"As a corollary of this, he believes that Green Dragon Gas looks well-placed to continue to benefit from the surging Chinese economy, given its raising last year of £13mn on AIM at 281p to develop five coal bed methane projects in China covering 1.6mn acres with an estimated 16.6trn cubic feet of gas."

BigGerbil "How on earth did the mcap get calculated?"

According to ADVFN, there are 94.51m shares in issue so it looks to me as tho ADVFN's mkt cap is 100 times too big

CBM can be interesting in certain areas (in parts of australia they have made it work directly into power plant, i believe) but, in general, the low productivities (high initial "flush" then very long "tails") and thus high number of wells required tend to make them uneconomic even 'tho the gas resources can appear "staggering".
The coal also has to be "the right sort of coal"; not being a specialist i havent come to grips with what the the right sort is but a lot of these projects fail if there is too much water in the coal interstices (where the methane is "stored").
Projects are surprisingly high risk (they were tried in the UK through a company called Evergreen in the '90's but never went anywhere).
Do we know how gas is priced in China?

Comments above without reading prospectus.

If a stock falls after its IPO and goes below the launch price........then do not buy it..........its generally good advice but not foolproof.

guess the share price performance to date might suggest there is little reason to rush in and buy

Some background to Randeep S. Grewal, below.

Another company into CBM is Heritage Petroleum [OFEX:HEP] partnered with European Gas Limited [AUX:EPG], they have licences for 1Tcf of CBM in France.

Amazing valuation...it's like paying £10 for every £1 , great if you can get away with it, has this company any trading history?

personally would like to see the offer back nearer the placing price before maybe buying in, but might not happen - still waiting and watching.

looks potentially interesting - spread a bit off putting but will watch for an opportunity possibly - any views or broker comment/targets would be very welcome.
