09/11/2002 20:14 | Kd1. To be honest Im unsure how filterx figures get updated on the weekend. But the close should be the previous periods ie the last nights close, so at some point for monday it should become Fridays close. Something of interest is you can preempt a breakout as FilterX will show you all stocks just about to break through, ie 99% of Year High but 100% of Weekly high, for instance, thus giving you a pre breakout glimpse. | clem

09/11/2002 01:13 | Ape, Re your post above, you can not restrict the PBB data stream to what margin traders want to see, the PBB can evolve into somewhere to actually talk about shares. I appreciate over last 3 years margin spread betting has grown, but reading between the lines as soon s Gordon Brown changes Tax Laws that will change. One day, undervalued longs will be back, and I firmly believe in the short term the market is a voting machine, longer term a voting machine. Value is value, long invariably that is sub £50m market cap, as indeed shorts abounded above £250m to £1 billion market cap. Now are the bulk of stocks over or undervalued? What if the market continues to rally until March 2003, dips into April rises to June 2003? The thing I can no longer understand is why people do not play as hedge funds, longing quality sub £250m, shorting overvalued dross over £250m, ie arbitrage relative value, take a zero market as a whole directional risk. What are your views on this strategy? Cheers Ash | ![]() mr ashley james
08/11/2002 17:15 | Using filterx (based on yesterday’s close with a market cap >250m) New highs M – CKSN, PILK, SXS, IOT, AGS, UTF, BVIT, NEX, TNI, RDW, EGG, MTO, AGG, BWNG, SIV, SMG, MDK Q – IOT, UTF, EGG, Y – no new highs New lows M – VRD, ARI, FIS Q – ARI Y - LSMR | kd1
08/11/2002 16:00 | Millcanned. These are the columns you should see. HIGH(W)% HIGH(M)% HIGH(Q)% (HIGH(Y)%) MKT.SEGMENT MKT CAP High Y % ,means percentage away from the yearly high. Q,M,W means quarterly, monthly,we Therefore if High Y % is +3 it means today the price went 3% through the yearly high. Everytime you refresh you will get the latest up to date breakout position. Clicking on the column heading reverses the list. Clicking on a column value gives a screen where you can filter values down. So for example if you click on a market cap you will note anything below £500m is excluded and you csan edit this to say £700 You can order the list on any column to extract Weekly, monthly etc breakouts from the universe of stocks. You can quickly build your own filter for break downs or add these to the example shown by adding Low Y% and sorting accordingly. Saving the resulting URL to your favorites will enable you to got to it whenever you want to see who fits your criteria. Hope this helps. | clem
