12/5/2022 16:56 | Namibia: Galp galvanised amid scramble to grasp impact of huge discoveries Massive Venus and Shell oil and gas finds trigger rethink of exploration dogmas about Orange 'super basin' 12 May 2022 9:10 GMT UPDATED 12 May 2022 9:35 GMT | jimarilo
12/5/2022 15:29 | Perhaps not. But two proven finds by two majors with billions of barrels surely DOES change things for Namibia, given that it has no production at all as yet...... not exactly rocket science to deduce that! | emptyend
11/5/2022 23:48 | Adding to that and also worth a mention Jeremy Asher said, in an rns this week regarding Namibia "The last six months has changed everything" Namibian micro cap shareholders will soon realise the impact of that change imo | jimarilo
11/5/2022 19:26 | Worth just refreshing our memory on the 24/2/22 RNS:-- Both Marula - Global's primary prospect in PEL 94 - and the Venus and Graff discoveries are stratigraphic traps with Cretaceous, deep-water sandstone reservoirs.-- The Venus discovery and Global's prospects and leads in PEL 94 are interpreted by the Company to be sourced with oil from the Barremian-Aptian Kudu Shale ("Aptian source rock"). The Company's work has previously demonstrated that the Aptian source rock is likely to be present and charging its prospects in PEL 94 with oil.-- A highly relevant factor is that water depths and subsurface drilling depths are significantly less in PEL 94 compared to those at Venus 1-X (and Graff-1). Global's internal economic modelling concludes that the economics of its two primary prospects, Marula and Welwitschia Deep, would be robust in the event of successful exploration drilling.......so cheaper to drill and with the same source and reservoir rocks. And the size of Venus/Graff has been increased significantly since February..... | emptyend

04/5/2022 12:25 | There is no question of oil that might have been there. Before Venus and Graff, the only previously discovered oil in Namibia was in the Walvis Basin Apparently, previously high pressure found when trying to tap into the Aptian shale seal deterred deeper exploration. The new model has a 100% strike rate (5 out of 5), confronts the high pressure to reap the rewards | jimarilo
04/5/2022 11:16 | But wasn't the intrusion of the Walvis Ridge post the genesis of any oil that might have been supposed to have been present in this area? What would that intrusion have done to any oil that might have been there? | fardels bear
04/5/2022 10:35 | Indeed and again confirms the Aptian runs from the Walvis Ridge to South Africa | jimarilo
04/5/2022 10:10 | ....interesting to see GBP referenced with a "more precise speculation" as to the Aptian. The Aptian is also important on the opposite side of the continent. One wonders what or whom has led GBP to think the Namibian finds are Aptian......might it be a dataroom visitor, for example? | emptyend
04/5/2022 09:52 | may be of interest to some | jimarilo
