19/4/2013 08:47 | Same goes for Tempus in today's Times Tempus: breath of fresh air for engineer GKN's victory a year ago in the auction to buy the aerospace division of Volvo of Sweden looks like an increasingly fortunate one. The diversified engineer was keen to reduce its exposure to the automotive market and beef up its aerospace side. Yesterday's first-quarter trading update indicates that the company is just about beating the market in automotive and seeing inevitable weakness where it sells into industry and construction. But the aerospace arm is seeing the benefits of the Volvo business just as the expected ramp-up in production comes through from the two companies that dominate the civil market, Boeing and Airbus. ..................Th | valedo

18/4/2013 08:09 | Margins are ahead in most cases if you exclude restructuring charges. They are doing more rationalisation than might have been expected. I think the underlying story reads well, the summary finishes with '...With restructuring charges now largely behind us, we expect the remainder of the year to show improvement, supported by our market leadership positions, advanced technology and extensive global footprint.' | daz
18/4/2013 07:26 | Nigel Stein, CEO, commented: "We have met our expectations for the first quarter against the backdrop of challenging end markets. Last year's acquisition, GKN Aerospace Engine Systems (formerly Volvo Aero), is performing well against our restructuring and integration plan and made a strong financial contribution. With restructuring charges now largely behind us, we expect the remainder of the year to show improvement, supported by our market leadership positions, advanced technology and extensive global footprint." | broadwood

05/3/2013 15:20 | Still benefitting from yesterday's upgrade. | broadwood
05/3/2013 15:18 | Possibly GKN is seen as a good bet on the weaker pound, which must be helping their exports. The rating is still mean considering the merger benefits and it's exposure to a global economy, which seems to be getting past the worst. | daz
05/3/2013 07:30 | I like the recent chart here since A)It's broken out from the previously tested resistance points and B) It's accelerating but I also think the bigger picture tells a story of significance. I've overlayed the FTSE100 and as we see GKN still has some catching up to do from the previous high of July 2007. Given the prgress GKN has made since that time and given its potential for growth these PE ratios are well short of where I think it should be. I'm aiming for those previous highs. | thorpematt
04/3/2013 13:26 | Another good increase, at 13.05 up 7.7p to 277.1p, a 2.86% increase. Also this morning Goldman Sachs raised GKN to Neutral(Sell) with a share price of 272p (195). Better late than never. | okw
