Nasrul seeks Jica support for investment master plan based on electricity demand
“Regional industrialisation is happening in Bangladesh. As demand patterns vary by region, supply mechanisms also differ. These need to be considered for the plans,” he said during a meeting with a 12-member Jica delegation at the Secretariat today (12 May).

"Regional industrialisation is happening in Bangladesh. As demand patterns vary by region, supply mechanisms also differ. These need to be considered for the plans," he said during a meeting with a 12-member Jica delegation at the Secretariat today (12 May).

The delegation was led by Tatsufumi Yamagata, chairperson of Jica's Advisory Committee for the Maheshkhali Integrated Development Initiative (Midi) Master Plan Formulation Project, reads a press statement.

Speaking on the occasion, State Minister Nasrul urged Jica to study the proper use of the phase-2 area under Midi.

Initially, the project planned to build a new coal-fired power plant in Matarbari but the plan was later cancelled.

Nasrul Hamid said it's time to think about what kind of alternative energy-based power plant should be set up there with more profitability and who will be its potential customers.

"There have been some proposals for solar power plants. Discussions on LNG terminals are well-advanced. Energy demand is increasing continuously as development continues.
Therefore a land-based LNG terminal is urgently needed," he said, adding that discussion is ongoing in this regard with Midi authorities.

Jica's Tatsufumi Yamagata, meanwhile, said, "Development is ongoing in different regions of Bangladesh, which is good for overall development."

Also speaking on the occasion, member of the advisory committee and executive vice president of JETRO (Japan External Trade Organization) Mayumi Murayama said he is fascinated by the brilliance of Dhaka.

"Time has come for Bangladesh to determine the diversification of industrialisation and investment environment, [creating] energy hub, carbon emission reduction strategy in the Midi area and industrialisation strategy there," he said.

RE: Serious conversation on a green lightToday 14:33
It all depends on how much of the project we need to give away, and what would be our forecasted revenues for the % of the project we manage to retain.

With 276m shares outstanding a £2 share price would give us. Market cap of over £0.5bn. What makes you think the market would value us as such?
