China's Coal Imports Jump 23% In May 2019
Coal News - Published on Wed, 12 Jun 2019

china-s-coal-imports-jump-23-in-may-2019_75156.jpg Image Source: Sputnik International Montel reported Chinese coal and lignite imports rose 23% YoY to 886K tonne per day in May, as the country continued to stock up ahead of the summer cooling season. Imports last month were 5% higher than in April and the highest in 4 months.

A coal analyst with a trading firm said import economics had proven favourable for Chinese buyers. But the import total had also included April-arrival Australian cargoes, which had been slow to discharge due to stringent customs restrictions.
