Coal is a major source for energy in numerous countries. India, China, Indonesia and Vietnam have undertaken 82 per cent of the world's new coal-fired power plants as per a report from Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit (ECIU), the UK. By 2041, Bangladesh needs to import 60 million tons of coal per year. It needs to utilise optimum level of her large coal reserve for its energy source reducing its dependence on imported coal. It must put emphasis on charting a strategic plan to accommodate the large coal reserves, rationalise the cost of LNG including other primary energy and power, fast track new exploration and right energy mix.

Lets be honest. We’ve been reading the same about this domestic coal plan in news articles by 2021 & 2030, megaplan this megaplan that for the past 3 years.

Yet still, here we are.

Boy who cried wolf springs to mind

The above article is very clear that Bangladesh is going to back coal in a major way. This is obviously very good news for GCM. It’s time we had some more news.

The Power Division aims to generate 19,000 megawatts of coal-powered energy by 2030. Also, the infrastructure for imported coal and domestic coal development is being prioritised.

It is clear that Bangladesh is betting on coal as it is the cheapest primary energy. Opting for more coal-fired power plants is threatening the programme of cutting greenhouse gas emissions. However, expansion of coal is based on the assessment of costs without factoring in health and environmental impacts. It looks like Bangladesh, a signatory of the Paris climate agreement, is sending a wrong signal to the rest of the world.

The power generation capacity of the country is now 13,621 MW. The incumbent government has been successful to significantly increase power generation. Still, it is too far from creating a balanced energy mix that could take care of the growing demand. The situation is rendered more complicated due to the excessive reliance on coal.

Morning Linton.

It will go ahead eventually I’m sure, just not within timescales idiots on another board would lead you to believe.

Can’t see anything happening in way of SOD approval until after the next elections which is obviously the golden ticket.

Would like to think further news around the Chinese connection will come this year though, which would give you a temporary spike & probably enough to double your money from here.

Keep trading the ramper spikes though mate, surprising how quick you’ll make your 50k.

Good luck
