20/6/2022 21:41 | FM71 will be a 6 month (24 weeks) duration study versus FM57 which was conducted over 3 months (12 weeks) to reassure the FDA that the efficacy does not diminish over a longer period of time’ ˜ will also include 20 African American patients (from a US medical centre Odds estimates indicated the largest likelihood of placebo response occurred in men who were black, were younger than 45 years, had mild ED, and did not have diabetes. The likelihood of a placebo response decreased as ED duration increased. The frequency of common adverse events was similar between placebo responders and nonresponders. | lbo

20/6/2022 16:31 | Powders, tablets and gels used like medications but registered as medical devices – the same category plasters and pacemakers fall into – need tighter controls, a team of clinical researchers has concluded after studying several such materials. Products that fall into this regulatory grey zone don’t need to prove their efficacy or safety in the same way pharmaceuticals do, which could be a concern for vulnerable patients According to European regulations, medical devices are used for diagnosis, prevention or treatment of disease, but unlike drugs their primary mode of action isn’t biological. The definition includes everything from medical software to wound dressings and surgical instruments. Manufacturers need to demonstrate medical devices’ safety and performance. An organisation called a notified body then assesses the product’s conformity and grants it a CE mark. But Van Winckel and her colleagues found only poor clinical evidence for the three devices they investigated. Studies were small or of low quality, often missing placebo controls. In some cases, there was no data at all The researchers also highlighted the lack of safety information in the devices’ instruction leaflets. There was no or little mention of interactions with other compounds, maximum safe dose or adverse effects. There is still no requirement of efficacy, performance being sufficient,’ she points out. | lbo
20/6/2022 16:26 | Concerns over regulation of oral powders or gels sold as medical devices in Europe These ‘MedDevs&rsquo gels, sold as medical devices in the European Union (EU), aren’t regulated to the same safety standards as those applied to medicines As a result, these products, which look like medicines, can be marketed with very limited clinical data and accompanied by poor quality product information. there was insufficient or no information on: the derivation of the products; the ratio of the relevant constituents; toxicity; factors affecting absorption and potential interactions with other drugs; maximum safe doses; and potential long term harms. require only certification with a ‘CE’ (quality) kitemark before the product can be marketed. This process doesn’t require evidence of efficacy or safety from high quality clinical trials, as is the case for medicines. | lbo
20/6/2022 16:20 | Both are class 2b medical device gels that are rubbed in. Both have no active pharmaceutical ingredients and both have no proven efficacy in their own placebo controlled study. Yet only one is a ‘scam’! LOL Flexiseq was a certified Class IIb medical device. We understood that the device certification was granted by a body within the European Member States that had been designated to carry out conformity assessments under the Medical Device Directive. MED3000 was recently granted a CE mark as an approved medical device in the EU. Does this mean it works? No. Unlike drugs, medical devices don't need to be proven efficacious to be sold; they only need to show conformity with safety regulations, which the CE mark indicates. So how effective is MED3000 really? The first thing to note is that MED3000 has never been shown to be more effective than any control treatment - because it was the control treatment. The court did not concur with the defendant’s arguments. It stated that the CE conformity assessment is neither an official approval procedure nor an administrative legal act. The so-called “notified bodies” which carry out conformity checks and award the CE-certificates are private companies. The tests carried out by these companies therefore rather amount to plausibility checks, which, moreover, only concern individual aspects, for example, of a production process. A product’s (alleged) therapeutic effectiveness is not (necessarily) examined. In effect, the court enjoined the defendant from continuing the advertising of the product. | lbo
20/6/2022 14:14 | LBO As you well know Flexiseq is a scam treatment marketed by Russian gangsters and is nothing to do with MED but Viagra (Sildenafil) taken orally or by injection into a vein has side effects which may include (official): sensitivity to light muscle aches heartburn nose bleeding flushed skin problems falling asleep tingling in the arms, feet, legs, or hands numbness in the arms, feet, legs, or hands headache diarrhea heartburn trouble differentiating between colors like blue and green seeing a blue tinge on things Viagra may also cause serious side effects that require immediate medical attention. 20/6/2022 12:16 | Exactly the same as Med3000. Except one placebo gel is for Osteoarthritis and the other for Erectile Dysfunction Just like Med3000 in FM57. FLEXISEQ was designed to be the topical placebo gel arm so there was no comparison of FLEXISEQ with a true topical placebo (such as an inactive gel) which would have controlled for any placebo effects of administering a topical treatment, such as patient expectation of benefit. the clinical effectiveness of FLEXISEQ has not been demonstrated. The absence of an adequate placebo (an inactive topical gel) for FLEXISEQ was highlighted as a limitation by 3 commentators. One commentator said that without it, the clinical effectiveness of FLEXISEQ could be attributed to the placebo effect of rubbing a gel onto the knee, instead of the Sequessome vesicles reaching the joint. Another commentator noted that pooling the results from studies using different placebo treatments may introduce bias into the meta-analysis results. | lbo |
