14/9/2018 14:10 | Atlas Digital, CEO Shawn Sanbar said: "We have been a trusted partner to studios, producers, editors, distributors and creative executives for more than 15 years in the Hollywood community. I'm proud at what we started, as a creative technical vision of defining creative workflows, Atlas has become a leading provider of integrated post services, and we are always looking for improved processes for our customers. Incorporating Blackbird and its unique codec was seamless and it immediately increased security and efficiencies. Being able to work on a 2 Mb/s connection on any browser is a game-changer. As more original content is created and streaming distribution increases, throughput without creative sacrifice is essential. As the media landscape rapidly evolves, adding the Blackbird codec and its rich digital toolsets, allows us to confidently support all types of projects including live production. Blackbird will be a great extension for our customers. After extensive testing, we are very confident with the enhanced benefits Blackbird brings, especially speed, agility and security. We are confident and looking forward to a long term Blackbird-Atlas Digital relationship." | cabi1

14/9/2018 11:37 | MK Xbox gaming rendered in a browser is coming do you think we can exploit that technically? | nickb
14/9/2018 11:35 | MK Yes I seem to remember that audio sync was a big problem. Today’s announcement is really major from a Technology point of view. No barrier to take up. Market finally open to Cloud now. So over to the sales guys. | nickb
14/9/2018 11:32 | expect a big driver for browser standards development re audio/graphics is gaming | _m_k
14/9/2018 11:28 | Thanks _m_k | bonio10000
14/9/2018 10:59 | don't know exact technical details or timeline but an improvement in the way java script handled audio in browsers (synchronising it with activity like rendering pixels onto a canvas i assume) was a blocker on forbidden developing a java script editor sooner. the blackbird editor is different to those editors (jumpcut of old for example) that playback video within a browser the conventional way using the standard codecs optimised for streaming playback via the html5 video tag. forbidden render video directly onto a blank browser canvas using their own codec in java script. it also takes time for new standards to filter out into modern browsers. this came up at an agm some time ago. the java script editor is most welcome. big technical gulf between forbidden and the competition. might help reverse the £££ | _m_k
14/9/2018 10:57 | I suspect there are a few OEM trials/ POC taking place that gives Ian confidence. We are in a good place. imho. | nickb
14/9/2018 10:20 | AVID is also on the Microsoft stand at IBC and their shares have had a torrid run up to the show. It's a brave decision as they also have a stand elsewhere. Anybody who comes to see their Microsoft stand is likely to see FBT as well and be able to make direct comparisons between what's on offer. FBT certainly doesn't have a customer base the size of AVID so from their point of view there is everything to gain. I do wonder whether IM has a couple of newsworthy wins to announce at IBC. It would be the icing on the cake. | chriscallen
14/9/2018 10:11 | Most advanced native Cloud Video Editing Technology in the world Millions invested to get here so well done investors Ian going big ...Mass take up. “This hugely increases the addressable audience and, as we move to mass take up through our OEM strategy” | nickb
14/9/2018 09:20 | Sounds like something they should have done 6 years ago and not wasted time and money elsewhere. hardly a pat on the back. | bonio10000
14/9/2018 09:00 | 'Our customers will now have access to our entire suite of digital production tools for use through a browser on any hardware that can be operated as low as a 2Mb/s bandwidth connection' Well played Sir! IMHO | paulcon1

14/9/2018 08:32 | Congrats to the FBT team and Leaning Technologies. | nickb
13/9/2018 20:10 | What we are showing at IBC this week are very strong products, best ever. And the market is finally engaged in Cloud at long last. Also great we are on Microsoft Azure Media stand getting high quality foot traffic rather than lost in a giant expo tucked away with other small companies. Up to you guys if you want to be depressed about it all personally I am very pleased with what we have. Game changer Blackbird Edge for Apple Mac announced today opening up a massive market and the share price goes down tells me the market doesn’t understand what we have! | nickb
13/9/2018 20:02 | Chris Forscene Eva and Captevate technology went into our current products so technically not wasted. Sure a small amount wasted on Eva marketing. It costs a lot of development money to end up with the products we have. $100’s of millions have been spent by Avid to get their Cloud apps to market and they have to rely on virtualisation. So that’s another way of looking at the money spent. Shareholders just don’t seem to realise how complex professional Video Editing apps are and the amount of money our competitors have spent. | nickb
13/9/2018 18:24 | NickB Yes it is mind blowing that they could produce the Codec for as little as that. But did they? In fact they had several goes at other products, not least EVA with its filmstar attended launch in Australia, which must have absorbed quite a bit of the cash. In fact they spent less because they frittered away money on "the latest good idea". The number of initiatives the BoD oversaw is amazing for such a small company; if you look back it's like watching a grasshopper on Speed. IM thank goodness does seem to have them focused now and lets hope he can keep them that way. Who knows SS could come up with another world beating product in 5 years time but only after this one has made us all very rich. | chriscallen |
