15/10/2018 07:54 | footloose2 firw00d Do you think like i do that there may be some good news for the high street in the budget? Yes i do, but think it will balance by targeting online sales, I have said this before, Yes the local high street and town centres are in decline but the retail parks and shopping centres are growing evermore, They are a social experience and will never leave us, FOOT are opening up new stores in these areas, They are the new kids on the block with a wealth of experience at hand. They will be bartering hard with the landlords to receive favourable deals that the 'old boys' could only dream of. Let's see what tomorrows update brings although it's H2 that should see an improvement with a much more promising outlook for 2019. FOOT are investing in the future and this is causing short term pain, The company of the future IMO and an absolute gift at these prices. Good day all. Firwood | firw00d

14/10/2018 12:58 | Agreed on your first point there FL2. I have my own business and along with regular clients i get new business on a weekly basis, I monitor my competitors and inch my prices up as much as possible, I do not want £'s less than them, I want £'s more !! You just have to maintain a flawless service to keep the custom. That said the majority shop around for the deals and that's where their money goes. Personally i'd rather get quality goods and service over a small saving but i know i am not mainstream with my ideas, Maybee we could pay a few rupees less to the children making the goods ? oops !!! | firw00d
14/10/2018 11:45 | I don't believe the high street is in as big a mess as is being stated. I think the problem is the discounting. They all need to get there heads together and stop trying to under cut each other, that is not helping anyone. So prices will go up a little, but this will help all in the end. What is the point of discounting yourself to going out of business. The fact is online sales are not going away,in the same way as people loving to go out for the day shopping will not go away. Those companies that have a good mix between the two will thrive. Looking at whats going on here they seem to have a nice balance, time will tell. | footloose2
11/10/2018 10:47 | Here is the monthly consumer spending report for August by IHS Market/Visa hxxps://resources.my Face to face spending seems to be up at least marginally, i'm trying to understand the causes of many high street retail stores going down. I can understand that the big stores like house of fraser and debenhams are not agile enough to respond to the changing landscape especially online competitors. Foot shouldn't be in this category, it should be responding fast and pricing should be efficient similar to JD. They admitted to mis positioning themselves with stock recently, having to over discount. I don't understand them blaming the general high street woes. These woes shouldn't effect them, just as JD haven't been affected. Overall they are positioning themselves for growth, upgading and opening of new stores, own design house and new warehouse and tech, no net debt, we should see the bottom line improve next year. | vijay108

10/10/2018 13:25 | They have told us they are going to post a loss on the accounts next week. "Footasylum expects to report a small adjusted EBITDA loss for the Period reflecting a lower gross margin and higher costs from investment in the Company's operations. The Company will also report over £2 million of exceptional income (excluded from adjusted EBITDA) from the early termination of the lease on one of the Company's Birmingham stores." The current out look is they will make around 6 million over the next half year. If another profit warning comes along then this will tank further (warnings usually come in threes) , if there are any signs of improvement/stabilis | vijay108

09/10/2018 16:52 | Mumford As a result, while that the retail sector is undoubtedly changing as shopping habits evolve, this doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s in decline. Businesses in the space who get their offerings right are actually flourishing, and even many of those currently experiencing speed bumps such as Footasylum still have healthy balance sheet and relatively good turnover, which from an investment perspective could make them a really exciting recovery prospect. And with a Brexit deal on the horizon, businesses could see an easing of cost pressures as our future becomes more certain and sterling recovers. | vijay108
