In 2020-21, the cost of Covid-19 on the health system is around £47bn, according to analysis by the Health Foundation charity. Both Test and Trace and personal protective equipment for frontline workers have cost billions. The NHS has received additional investment of £63bn this year to respond to the virus.Nearly £7bn of that, announced last week, will support the hospital discharge programme, primary care costs, infection control measures and long-Covid services.Around £29bn of additional investment is earmarked for next year, according to the Department of Health and Social Care.Prioritising the pandemic has had a knock-on effect on core NHS work and routine procedures. The Health Foundation says NHS England needs an additional £900m to get on top of waiting times. By 2023-24, front-line services will need £3bn more to deliver core services. On top of the financial cost of the pandemic, there has been a tragic human cost. More than 453,000 people have been admitted to hospital for treatment, placing intense pressure on services and staff. And more than 126,000 people in the UK have died within 28 days of a positive test result. The human cost is likely to continue as people suffer from undiagnosed illnesses and wait for delayed appointments. There are fears that thousands of heart failure patients are missing out on care due to a drop in hospital admissions while delayed endoscopy procedures could lead to thousands of additional deaths from gastrointestinal cancers.

Easy to get articles published.

Its door knocking that’s needed. Surely it can’t take this long to get a few trials running.

Another ‘paid for’ article, I assume. It certainly can’t be said Feedback don’t get the publicity in the trade press, but obviously the longer it fails to light the spark the harder the outlook...

Digital can help unclog your elective care back-log

New digital solutions that support asynchronous communication between clinicians could transform elective care and aid in tackling the expanding waiting lists

No progress, I note. Salutary to think that Oakley earned more than the UK PM last year and I doubt if he personally paid for redecorating the new office they moved into.

I shall add a few if/when they can be had for 1.25p. I’ll then repeat at 1.15p if offered. Even though progress seems glacial, surely that must change for the good one fine day - even if there’s a takeover. And that folks is the sole basis of my decision to add..!

Added..A few stocks that are linked to the health service or elective medical procedures have been basically put on ice due to Covid - now, for the UK, at least these stocks should start to make headway, and I believe FDBK to be one of them as it would appear to be the gold standard product in the field.IMOI liked the feb comment backed up 4 weeks later with a contract.Feedback is continuing commercial discussions, and while the pandemic slowed progression of Bleepa within the NHS, we are now seeing improvement in the pace of these talks, as well as a growing interest outside of the NHS and internationally.
