06/3/2008 16:49 | longshanks - i'm out too. will probably wait now to see what loss they made in 07 and what numbers may look like going forward. | explorer88
06/3/2008 15:06 | Long time since a stock surged like this - I make that 67% in under three weeks. Quite exceptional. Maybe this is an O & G company? I remember this happening on odd occcasions in the bull run of last year and in the year previous with Renesola and to a lesser extent with Tanfield but it looks a possible three to four bagger - seems no stopping it! This price rise has been based on very few buys and as the word spreads and PIs realise we may have something special here then a momentum could set in. This is indeed where PI's have a lot of power to take a stock up or down at a rate of knots. What particularly excites me here is that if the prelims come up with anything special this month then you could see the price double again. Inevitably their will be some profit taking but at the moment most are hanging on in there, as I am. I had bought for the longer term but if this goes on much longer, even I shall be tempted to top slice. I wonder if, as has been indicated earler, someone is building up a position here maybe with a takeover in mind. This company must be cash rich at the moment following IPO and being a very liquid type of business and a predator looking for a toe in the water in China, could find this very attractive indeed. | greek islander
06/3/2008 12:39 | I couldn't agree more. | steadyeddy2
05/3/2008 15:49 | Any small buying interest and the share price rises - real underlying strength here: haven't seen a stock so positive for a long while. If we got a flurry of buys the share price could go up hugely! | greek islander
05/3/2008 14:43 | I think they may be Chinese? | scribbler101
05/3/2008 14:19 | Looking at the contract note for my last purchase, and no stamp duty was applied. Checked with my broker who confirmed that ETC are "stamp exempt". Anyone know why this unexpected bonus applies?? | 19400
04/3/2008 09:43 | Buy early in good stock which many of us did with ETC and keep it. Same with GNG GFM HAIK WCC et al. Too much comment and not enough news on these boards. ETC's potential is huge and with Olympic Games giving China travel bug it is even bigger. Good site is | gelp
04/3/2008 09:00 | Though GNG was already profitable in net terms on IPO and ETC is not, I see some similarities in the potential. GNG surged hugely in the early days after float as people became interested in the model and saw just how big it could become. I got in in the low 20s and saw it rise to over 90p at one stage though profit taking and the current economic situation has temporarily held it back in the 60s. A trading update is expected any day now and should indicate a massive upturn in trading well above market expectation and may well bring about a re-rating of the company. Spotting them and sticking with them for the long term is the way forward though I always have a keen eye on fundamentals and cannot yet assess ETC properly. All I know, is that it has unbelievable potential and possibly is the fledgeling Chinese company I have been searching for since that GNG purchase. Small buys mainly by PIs will see it rise through the roof until such time as we get confirmation that the bottom line is in profit. Then see it go. Very excited though fully aware of the risks here. Lots unsaid. A real case of DYOR not being available to the investor. | greek islander
04/3/2008 08:41 | Mornin' Hornblower. I'm feelin' happy! | longshanks
04/3/2008 08:36 | Hi guys. I'm Monitoring. | horneblower
04/3/2008 00:00 | I guess longshanks I agree with much of what you write. Until we can assess these fundamentals and we are looking at an eps and a pe - in fact we probably need two years of REAL figures to do that - we cannot really expect to see progress converted into share price rises. The occasional RNS should help to keep things ticking over but if the results half year on half year are anything like what we are hoping for then in two years £5 may well be a possibility. In fact an eps of say 2p in twelve months and 5-6p in twenty four months and we are really rolling. All wishful thinking of course. However, in China these days nothing is impossible! EDIT Are we the only two here on this BB? | greek islander
03/3/2008 20:19 | ...I would think it is a little early in the company's life for the charts to have much meaning. At the moment I would say that the share price gyrations are classic symptoms of an early stage illiquid stock. Profit taking from the pre-IPO investors knocking the share price seven bells but now with some interested, susbstantial funds looking on with a view to getting in on the action, we are seeing some recovery. Much as I would like to think that this phase will see a sustained rise in the share price to £2+/share - I'm inclined to be a little more pragmatic. It is quite likely that any rise above £1.30 will see a number of pre-IPO investors liquidating profits and weakening the share price Fundamentals are what this share price needs to achieve £2+ and these are probably 12-18 months away. Happy to be wrong though...and if, this time next year, this share is at £5 - I will happily eat any hat you care to mention. | longshanks
03/3/2008 19:18 | Chartists would find the ETC chart fascinating I think | greek islander
03/3/2008 16:06 | Crazy. Someone buys 2k of stock and they raise the price 3%. The Mm's are in s street. | steadyeddy2
03/3/2008 16:02 | Yes 6p mid price gain now. I went on just to try to buy 5k and it proved impossible unless I split it into batches of 500-750 and even then no guarantee. Edit It also strikes me that this post IPO Chinese company might be attractive to a predator hoping to enter the Chinese travel industry - 180p or more? | greek islander
03/3/2008 15:03 | Raising the bid on a 300 sell. These guys are desperate for stock. | steadyeddy2
03/3/2008 14:25 | The rise is there if traders want it. How high I don't know but they are very short on stock. | steadyeddy2
03/3/2008 14:17 | steadyeddy Very interesting - just as I suspected. Looks promising short term anyway | greek islander

03/3/2008 14:04 | I already have a stake in ETC, tried to pick up another measerly 1k at a price of 97p, when the bid offer was 90-100 and they woudn't have it.Paid 100p just now and they bounced the price up. There is definately a large trade being filled. | steadyeddy2
03/3/2008 08:03 | Despite the sells on Friday the share price ticked up and again today, no buys yet another tick up. Someone is building a stake in the background. This looks VERY promising. | greek islander
02/3/2008 12:59 | It would be nice if ETC or its brokers would come up with an estimated eps for the current accounts year. Assuming net profitability is still expected. | greek islander
29/2/2008 17:41 | I am happy to be proved wrong if the price keeps improving...but for me I'd say this is ideal territory for some of the more adventurous funds. | longshanks |
