Even with the issues this company has had perhaps people have begun to realize the value in their stock. Merrill Lynch forecast a doubling of the March share price, setting a target price of 265p. (That would be nice)

Essar Oil renews product sale and purchase agreement with Bharat Petroleum

April 26, 2012: Essar Energy plc [LSE: ESSR], the India-focused integrated energy company, today announced that its subsidiary Essar Oil Ltd has renewed a major product sale and purchase agreement with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL).

The renewed four year agreement, running up to 2016, is for supply of diesel, petrol, kerosene and aviation turbine fuel to BPCL from Essar Oil's Vadinar refinery. It also entitles Essar Oil to purchase products from BPCL and gives the two companies the option of sharing each other's distribution infrastructure.

S Thangapandian, chief executive officer, Marketing, at Essar Oil, said: "We are delighted to further cement our long-term relationship with BPCL. Essar Oil has emerged as the biggest supplier for fuels for BPCL. With our expanded capacity coming on stream, we are fully geared to serve the growing demands of high quality fuel for the nation."

Essar Oil has similar product sale and purchase agreements with two other leading oil marketing companies from the public sector, Indian Oil Corporation Limited and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation.

Essar has recently completed the $1.81 billion phase 1 expansion of its Vadinar refinery, which has increased its capacity from 14.7 million tonnes a year (300,000 barrels per day) to 18 million tonnes a year (375,000bpd), and also improved complexity from 6.1 to 11.8 A further optimisation project, currently underway, will increase capacity further to 20 million tonnes (405,000bpd) by September 2012.

The Vadinar refinery, which is among the most complex refineries globally, has the flexibility to produce higher value, high-quality products, including gasoline (petrol) and gasoil (diesel) conforming to Euro IV and V norms, that are increasingly required in domestic and international markets.
