14/9/2017 12:50 | maybe i am missing something....so this company loses £1.80 for every £1 in sales, its admin expenses are more than 100% of sales, and after all the adspend it is only 8th in terms of brand recognition....but its worth £112 million..... Going forward, its repurchase cycle per customer is at best every 8 years, pricing is limited, margins likely decline....so when does it very turn a profit? Put another way, how many mattresses does it have to sell to make money... it sells online at £349 a mattress (and offers interest free credit...so there's a cost to the company that is hidden), so assuming they do £25 million of turnover this year (more than double the first half as likely to be skewed towards xmas sales), this means they need to sell 72,000 mattresses in UK and Europe. 55% of sales are in the UK by value (assume value = volume) so that's 40,000 roughly. The UK bed market is £1600 million, so call it £800 million for mattresses (mattress is 50% of the cost of a bed). This means that Eve market share this year is 2%, less than its brand awareness by some margin.... Wonder whether the shorts are out yet? | savagedstock
13/9/2017 15:02 | It's a totally free trial for the customer, they don't pay the return postage. This is very common now in online retail, and can be a key reason why you get the sale over a competitor. e.g. free returns for online fashion brands etc. I imagine they are able to re-sell them after a clean, can't imagine they would be totally wasted. | n0rbie
13/9/2017 11:28 | Thanks Hubie.do you know what they do with them.does the customer have to pay for the return carriage charge ? | haroldthegreat
13/9/2017 10:53 | The return rate is given in the results: "Likewise there was a marked reduction in the underlying returns rate, which has fallen year-on-year from 18% to 13%." | n0rbie
13/9/2017 09:20 | Would be interesting to know how many mattresses are returned under their 100 day return trial . what do they do with their returns ? One well known mattress retailer told me that they allow returns if not satisfied and then supply to hotels .no mention in results today. Also I find this a rather strange statement to make "The intention is to limit partnership sales in order to obtain the benefits of the partnership model without compromising the Company's direct to consumer online proposition." Ie we want retailers to stock our products but really want to sell on line and cut out the retailer. Or am I missing something ? | haroldthegreat
13/9/2017 08:39 | They have feelers out through Europe as well so I see continued growth. The outlook is up-beat. | hazl
13/9/2017 08:29 | I paid 81.349 so I imagine quite a few of those are buys,too. | hazl
13/9/2017 08:19 | Great results! I have been watching these for some time but couldn't see that we needed that many mattresses, didn't realise they do the linen as well. These people are known to be very innovative and disruptive in a way,as people buy a product like this online, and deliver it on a bike! | hazl
