HomeSend - new commercial agreement to enable mobile remittances towards China

Paris: 24 June 2011

eServGlobal announces an agreement for the HomeSend remittance service between its strategic business partner BICS and SmartPay, a leading Chinese electronic payment service provider.

The signing of this agreement is a significant step for HomeSend, enabling senders in selected countries in the EU, Middle East and Asia-Pacific to reach the critical mass of the Chinese market. This deal will greatly increase the number of potential receivers for HomeSend, simultaneously making the hub more attractive to potential senders. China is one of the top remittance receiving countries in the world, with over 8 million Chinese living abroad.

The HomeSend mobile remittance hub service is offered by BICS and based on eServGlobal technology. BICS is a leading global provider of Voice, Messaging, Roaming, Connectivity and Mobile Financial Services. HomeSend, which benefits from a first mover advantage, is the only mobile-centric international remittance hub endorsed by the GSMA, with existing remittance corridors operating between countries including the UK, the Philippines, Belgium, Ghana and Morocco.

The BICS and SmartPay release is attached to this announcement.

PRESS RELEASE: SMARTPAY AND BICS ENTER INTO A COMMERCIAL AGREEMENT TO ENABLE MOBILE REMITTANCES TOWARDS CHINA

Brussels, Belgium - 24 June 2011

SMARTPAY, the pioneer of Chinese electronic payment services and leader in the mobile payment industry, and BICS, part of the Belgacom Group and a prominent international provider of Voice, Messaging, Roaming, Connectivity and Mobile Financial Services, announced today the signing of an agreement for the use of the HomeSend hub to enable mobile remittances towards China.

This deal will enable people in selected countries in the EU, Middle East and Asia-Pacific to transfer money in a fast and cost effective way to the mobile phones or bank accounts of their friends and family in China.

The remittance transactions will be facilitated through the HomeSend remittance hub, which is a strategic business partnership between BICS and eServGlobal. HomeSend allows the real-time transfer of any type of funds, such as airtime or money, and from various fund sources, such as eWallets, bank accounts, credit cards and cash.

Frederic Schepens, SVP Mobile Financial Services at BICS said, "It's great to have SmartPay on our global HomeSend hub. With this agreement we are opening an important market in Asia to our community."

With the inherent advantages of being 'anywhere and anytime', SmartPay mobile payment services provide a safe and convenient alternative for payments while reducing time, travel and social costs. We believe that the HomeSend service fits well with the service philosophy of SmartPay, and will offer a more convenient and competitive option for the international remittance market amounted to $500 billion per year," said Edward Wu, CEO and President of SmartPay.
