05/3/2010 09:55 | The latest report from the BEC on the 'tie'. Only had a quick breeze through it but, despite much wailing and gnashing of teeth, the effect is that the issue is kicked into the long grass til July 2011 and they are going to give self-regulation one last shot. So that'll be no change, then! | jeffian

26/2/2010 14:36 | Shouldn't read too much into that, Evaluate. The insti's love trading in and out of this share because it is so liquid. In the accounts to 30/0/09, Black Rock were shown as the biggest shareholder with 14.09%. | jeffian

19/2/2010 08:34 | jeff, The lack of something to discuss doesn't stop the chatter on the other boards! The pre-close update gave a pretty good indication that they are making good progress on both fronts. Revenue declines had slowed markedly & they are managing to sell pubs for more than book value - albeit on a fairly small scale. | evaluate
18/2/2010 16:35 | Not sure there's much to discuss, Evaluate. We know roughly where we're likely to be on P&L and there are 2 issues to be resolved before the share price is likely to move forward. One is to stop the decline in EBITDA (not imminent) and the other is to complete the refinancing of the £1bn bank debt due May 2011 which they say they will address prior to September 2010. Subject to anything they may say at the pre-close trading update on 31 March or the Interims on 11 May, I imagine things will drift sideways until there is progress on those fronts. | jeffian

08/2/2010 09:54 | Inspecting the new LSE Corporate Bond site I was interested to see that one of the very few corporate bonds is the ETI 18 The spread was very thin 86.43/88.5 and surprising given the difficulty I had in buying them. This compared to the indicated one on Bondscape 86.4/96.4 which would be the basis of the mid market quote of 91.3p on fixedincome investor. Rather theoretical for me as I am not looking to add or sell | cerrito

21/1/2010 19:41 | Enterprise boost from pub sell-off Enterprise Inns' earnings improved over the last four months, helped by the sale of its worst-performing pubs and "strong" Christmas trading. By Amy Wilson, City Reporter Published: 6:59PM GMT 21 Jan 2010 Enterprise Inns The shares jumped more than 20pc on the news, and helped lift the shares of rival pub owner Punch Taverns. Analysts were encouraged by the pick-up in trading since the start of the financial year, and said the shares were now good value, with Enterprise's shares having under performed the wider market in recent months. Today's update is the catalyst to see the stock reverse that under-performance with a good sequential improvement in trading and a beat on disposal news flow," analysts at Credit Suisse said. Enterprise expects to sell between 400 and 500 pubs this year, chief executive Ted Tuppen said, up from 360 last year, as it seeks to pay down debt and reduce the cost of supporting tenants. The company has sold 103 pubs for £32m so far this financial year, and is in the process of selling around another 130 for £47m. The cost of special measures to keep pubs open, such as temporary management contracts and rent concessions, is higher than this time last year, but Mr Tuppen said it is falling, due to the sale of the weakest pubs. Average net income per pub fell 4pc during the last four months, compared with an 8pc slide last year. The chief executive is also confident that Enterprise will be able to refinance an estimated £650m of loans due in 2011. The pub owner aims to come to an arrangement with its existing syndicate of 12 banks, including Royal Bank of Scotland, HBOS, HSBC and Barclays. The company will assess whether it can afford to start paying a dividend again once the refinancing is complete, Mr Tuppen said. Shareholders voted in favour of the directors' remuneration at the company's annual meeting on Thursday, in contrast to Punch, whose shareholders rejected the pay award at their meeting. | crosswire

Pubs group Enterprise Inns is leading a pub sector rally on a statement that Christmas business was strong, with a deterioration in business beginning to slow The sale of underperforming pubs has helped cool the decline in average net income per pub to around 4% for the 16 weeks to 16 January from 8% during the last financial year | crosswire
21/1/2010 14:42 | Starting to look a lot like a short squeeze to me. Not enough shares to go round for all those wanting out of their short positions that took this to 95p. Even at 118p L2 is at 655K to 215K and still very bullish when you consider the 4 MMs have to put their 30K blocks there... | livic1971
