                     Planning permission for Burford Quarry

Ennstone announces that its English subsidiary Ennstone Breedon Limited has been
successful in obtaining planning permission for a major extension to its site at
Burford in Oxfordshire.

Burford Quarry Limited was acquired by Ennstone in 2000.  Since acquisition,
Ennstone has invested considerably in the establishment and expansion of its
concrete product manufacturing capacity as well as the quarry operations.

The planning permission will give Ennstone an additional 2.1million tonnes of
limestone reserves whilst output restriction at the site will be increased from
45,000 tonnes per annum to 200,000 tonnes per annum.

Commenting on the successful consent, Vaughan McLeod, Chief Executive, said:

"We are delighted to have obtained planning permission for Burford.  We have
long recognised the potential of this site and this consent will allow us to
exploit that potential to the full."
