FT today.

'Ennstone lost 6.4 per cent to 29p as the building materials group denied it had received any approaches. Rumours of a possible bid from Lafarge pushed the shares higher last week'

Any other press comment?

These results just confirm how right one of its major shareholders was a couple of years ago when it convened an EGM to oust the current management on the basis that its performance had been woeful!

According to Feb CDRefs the market expectation for EPS was 2.8p/share,confirmed by house brokers Altium on 14 Jan 2008.They only made half that.Brokers have egg on their face methinks.

they'll be bought out at this price given they're the last quoted agregate business on the LSE. Worth 40p at least.

.... meadow .... I got out this morning when I read the details .... this was nothing like the results I expected ..... let alone what the market expected .... think their previous RNS on result guidance was misleading ....

Eps down from 2.75p to 1.41p is v.poor.Glad I sold after taking up the rights issue.A lot of disappointment for investors but if they drop to 25p I'll condider buying back in.

...that's why .... the headline ....

' LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Ennstone PLC reported a lower full-year pretax
profit, in line with market expectations, but said that it has laid the right
foundations and made the right investments in recent years to achieve its goals
and objectives for 2008.'

Reading the report it gives the impression of a business that knows what it wants to do, where it is going and how it is to get there. Prospect of land being sold off for residential use in Aberdeen in later years bonus.

Increased profits and dividend. Positive future growth.
So shares drop 9%. Pity they weren't bad results then ?

roadwalker, at first glance, the results read well. Good. I guess the bid premium has just gone up a notch or two then. Interesting to see how the market responds to them. I will continue to hold and probably accumulate on any weakness. Good luck all.
