NYSEG Declares Quarterly Dividends 


ROCHESTER, N.Y., April 7  /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The board of directors of
New York State Electric & Gas Corporation (NYSEG) has declared the following
quarterly dividends on preferred stock payable July 1, 2005 to holders of
record at the close of business June 3, 2005.

          Series                Amount Per Share

           3.75%                93.75 cents
           4 1/2%               $1.125
