13/1/2015 12:25 | BW, Obviously, I am missing something. What is this ripple effect you refer to, and how does any delay in the permitting of PRT make political sense when related to the resolution of problems at Aznalcollar? I would have thought totally the opposite. Two pieces of good news issued separately is more beneficial politically, than two pieces of good news issued together. P.S. the extension date was to the 8th of February, not the end of February. | scrappycat
13/1/2015 12:12 | deme before you throw your dummy out look at aznalcollar first. The fact that no one was willing to do anything for so long shows you how sensitive it all was. PRT will be andalucias flagship operation cos its bigger than anything else. But it makes sense to get Aznalcollar sorted out first. I see no evidence that it is delaying our project - its just the timing of the announcment that I see being affected. Frogkid: where do you think Heinz get all their tomatoes from? | bookworm1
13/1/2015 12:12 | I wouldn't invest the price of a can of cheap baked beans in this 3rd world country after this fiasco. I would rather take my chances in South Africa. | frogkid
13/1/2015 12:03 | The problem being this should not be politically lead! If we have conformed with all regulations required then we should be signed off! The spanish are looking for future investment for the mining revival, you wouldnt think it. They will not get any more investment from me and i will talk down any of my collegues that look at spain as an investment opertunity | deme1
13/1/2015 11:58 | lol by whom? When are the elections due? | bookworm1
13/1/2015 11:50 | "So why is AL under the impression that we are getting permits this month?" Probably for the same reason that he thought that we were getting them last month. What ever that was. | yantatin
13/1/2015 11:45 | bw have you been asked to prepare us for further delay? | cutandpolished61
13/1/2015 11:25 | Probably because that is what he has been told. All I am saying is look outside for other factors that might affect/delay the 'official' granting of MP. We have been through this process before with the granting of AS. I am not saying that they wont be granted - the restart of this mine is now a guaranteed certainty. But the timing of any announcemnt has more to do with political judgement & timing IMO than anything that is connected to the company. "Hope for the best and expect the worst..." HAA | bookworm1
13/1/2015 11:22 | All forces seem to be against us at present. Copper slips to 5 year low. :-( | iankn73
13/1/2015 11:16 | Not so sure I buy that parklife. Few politicians have had the courage to tackle the Aznalcollar problem but the new president visited the site on her first day in office and announced that she was going to stamp out corruption and change the direction of Andalucian economic policy by incorporating mining. It was a pivotal moment. Whilst people like to attribute many of the delays in the project to the management of the company many of the causes are external and outside the companies control. However it is a matter of record that Trafigura tried to gag the house of parliament discussing their environmental track record so I can see how tempting it is to draw that conclusion... | bookworm1
13/1/2015 11:10 | "the official announcement could be made anytime between now and the summer" Well the Junta have extended until end of Feb and our CEo has said he expects permits within the first 2 weeks of Jan. If there is to be a further delay then that is reflected in the current SP | deme1
13/1/2015 11:10 | timing !!!! NY COPPER SLUMPS 2.6%, BIGGEST INTRADAY LOSS SINCE NOV | mronions

13/1/2015 11:08 | SOUNDS GREAT BOOKY, THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH THAT IS WE WILL RUN OUT OF CASH AGAIN ! | frogkid
13/1/2015 10:59 | Ian the clue would seem to been given out last month when the Junta announced that the Aznalcollar project had been delayed by three months. Given the political importance of aznalcollar it seems to have had a ripple effect on PRT. Maybe they want to announce PRT after Aznalcollar has been resolved (it makes political sense). It does not appear to have stopped the restart programme (maybe they have a temporary permit) and the official announcement could be made anytime between now and the summer. Meanwhile the company is now getting the copper processing facility which would cost between £1.5-2bn to build new for an investment of than $200m and $16bn worth of copper in the ground. Who said the dirty tricks were over? | bookworm1
13/1/2015 10:41 | In the current circumstances, the announcement of a visit by Sudan Diaz would probably be viewed as price sensative information. More likely to be a joint announcement out of the blue for my money. From memory, history suggests that a tight ship has been maintained regarding leaks | scrappycat
13/1/2015 10:29 | It's been extremely quiet on the Spanish media front. Which would suggest that there is nothing imminent. I would have expected something along the lines on Sudan Diaz visiting prt on x or y day. With this being such an iconic mine I would have expected a leak somewhere and the media being all over it. It looks like this will got to the wire as usual. I hope I'm wrong and we get news soon. | iankn73
13/1/2015 10:28 | deme, Please do not feed the animals. To do so just encourages them to take even more liberties. ;-) | scrappycat |
