Yes Darren, SQEX down 10% on that profit warning. I should have sold when they were up 30% for me 12 months ago - will I ever learn!

It seems K&L2 failed to reach internal targets and the latest version of FF on PC has bombed, both due to quality issues I suspect. I'm sure they will take the time to rectify problems on the latter for the all important PS3 release, but that and the delay to DX3 is not going to help profitability in the short term. If the K&L movie turns out to be a success it may give the franchise the momentum for a K&L3, otherwise it may be curtains for the brand.

Fortunately, SQEX are a tiny part of my portfolio now - Eidos burned my fingers when it comes to gaming stocks. I will sell up when they reach my break even and be done with it.

IMG is riding the iPhone/Pod/Pad wave for me these days - a great British firm finally getting the recognition they deserve.

Anyway, definitely the last post on matters EID/SQEX from me. Good luck to you Darren, and anyone else still lurking on this BB, re your future investments. Parting shot from me that might be of interest, latest interview on DX; could well be a money spinner for them (eventually):

Thanks Darren, re both your last posts. I've kept my small stake in SQEX, more as a reatained interest in the games business than anything else. It's hovering around my breakeven price, despite SQEX having posted excellent results consistently since the takeover. No logic in the stock market sometimes, especially gaming stocks!

I still think Eid was a steal, as you know, with 3 No 1 hits since the takeover. I don't know how the DL TR spin off (Guardian of Light) is doing, but the reviews were universally strong and it was well priced, so I presume it has done good numbers. A new franchise in the making possibly.

SQEX/EID is a peripheral interest these days (hence the delay in seeing your post), with IMG being my main holding now. It has wiped out my losses in Eid, so I can offset them against my eventual tax bill (I knew Eidos would come in handy one day!). Good luck with your future investments.

PS. Just found this link to the 6 month figures to Sept:

Sales are slower than forecast, explaining the recent share price drop. I'll hold onto my interest in SQEX, because I think the acquisition of Eidos will pay off for them, as they needed to expand beyond the Japanese market.

I still own a few shares. Should I sell now or hold on. What's the count down for Togglebrush? - until there can be no more counter bids or until the takover officialy happens. What happens to those that still hold EID shares when the takeover happens, do they get the equivalent in the take over company?

From the RNS above ... Did UBS short EID?

totally agree but the price action demonstrated in the ta will undoubtedly be governed by the markets risk /reward view of a deal progressing...so since eid/seg/eid has been one of the leakiest ships in the market [not just with cash!!!] for info then worth looking at the action for signals of knowledgable investors!

whats your current view of how the release line up is shaping up darrens??

It is interesting to see these trading substantially lower than before the trading update despite bid approach. My prob is that imho without a bid they are zero, with a bid they might be 15p to 20p, with an auction they might be 25-30p, but that is least likely outcome by a margin. It's the zero without a bid, with no cards to play, that is troubling.

It's very reminiscent of EID before - without an Elevation or SCi in sight.

To answer both of the above posts the retailer may be taking the hit (and usually does), but with some big retailers they may have agreed a sale or return with a distributor.

In either case EID does not take the hit which on the face of it is good news, but looking at the bigger picture suggests that demand from EID will dry up. In simple terms when something goes on promotion it is either done as a loss leader or to remove over stocked positions.

Personal comment to Darren, I have seen your posts and I suspect that you are also involved in the industry?

That is what I am struggling with; I believe the company is all ready undervalued on IP alone. But TW's holding make it hard for other players to make a bid and succeed with it.

So let's say for the case of discussion that TW will end up with EID, what would you do in their position in a buyers market?

If I was TW I would let this drag down and down and move at the most opportune moment. I never re-entered myself at 16p (recently) due to this, have I missed the boat, only time will tell.

One thing I am sure of is that EID will not exist as it stands today, although I would not like to state how long before this happened.

EIDOS is targeting the Wii and in greater proportion to UBIsoft. These figures are from UBIsoft Press Release. Darren yet again we disagree.

Sales forecasts for UBIsoft are roughly £800 million. Those for EID are roughly £200 million (which is well above LY). i.e. UBI are 4 times as big as EID.

Number of New Releases for UBI third quarter Oct Dec 08 v those for EID in similar period (+ are those for rescheduled games with No release date)
