TechnipFMC Bags Significant Contract

TechnipFMC has been contracted to supply subsea production systems for the Block 18 Infills development, offshore Angola.


TechnipFMC announced that it has been awarded a “significant” contract by Azule Energy to supply subsea production systems for the Block 18 Infills development, offshore Angola.

According to the company, the contract is worth anywhere in the region of $75 million and $250 million. The company said in its statement that this is its first subsea production systems contract with Azule Energy and follows the announcement of a flexible pipe supply contract for Azule’s Agogo Integrated West Hub Development.

That contract is one of TechnipFMC’s largest ever awards for flexible pipe in West Africa, and covers the engineering, procurement, and supply of jumpers, flowlines, risers, and all associated ancillary equipment, TechnipFMC noted in a previous statement. The flexible pipe will connect the new Agogo facility to the subsea production systems, the company highlighted.

Azule Energy, a BP and Eni company, is the operator of Block 15/06 in Angola offshore, partnering with Sonangol P&P and SSI Fifteen Limited.

The existing Block 18 field layout will be reconfigured to accommodate new equipment that will continue to support Azule’s production increase plan, TechnipFMC said. The company highlighted that it will design and manufacture subsea trees, a manifold, subsea distribution equipment, and topside controls, as well as jumpers, flowlines and umbilicals.

“Our deep knowledge of the existing installed base was key to securing this contract, and we are delighted to be supplying subsea production systems to Azule Energy as we further develop our relationship with this client,” Jonathan Landes, President, Subsea at TechnipFMC, commented.

Eni chief executive says plan for pipeline to move gas to Cyprus 'part of our discussion'

NICOSIA, Cyprus (AP) - The chief executive of energy company Eni said Tuesday that Cyprus-Israeli plans for a pipeline to move offshore natural gas from the two countries to Cyprus is "part of our discussion" with the Cypriot government. The gas would be processed for electricity generation and possible exportation.

Eni CEO Claudio Descalzi said after talks with Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides that any plan to develop gas deposits discovered off Cyprus´ southern coast "must have economic value."

Descalzi said talks focused primarily on Eni´s plans to drill by the end of the year an additional well in Block 6 - one of seven areas inside Cyprus´ exclusive economic zone where the Italian company along with partner Total of France hold licenses for hydrocarbon exploration.

Sector Update: Energy Stocks Rise Friday Afternoon

(MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks were higher Friday afternoon, with the NYSE Energy Sector Index up 0.3% and the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) advancing 0.5%.

The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector index was little changed, and the Dow Jones US Utilities index was rising 1.1%.

West Texas Intermediate crude oil was rising 0.7% to $71.09 a barrel while the global benchmark Brent crude contract was advancing 0.5% to $76.04 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures were 4.5% higher at $2.65 per 1 million BTU.

In company news, TechnipFMC (FTI) said it has been granted a significant contract from Woodside Energy for its Julimar project offshore Western Australia. TechnipFMC shares were up 0.4%.

Baker Hughes (BKR) said it has received a contract to provide Italian energy group Eni (E) and its partner Petroci with deepwater technology for the Baleine phase 2 project in Ivory Coast. Baker Hughes was up 1.4%.

RPC (RES) shares was shedding 4.4% after Citigroup downgraded the oilfield services company to sell from neutral and cut its price target to $7 from $8.25.
