22/10/2016 11:43 | @Larmor - read the book of The Big Short, not seen Margin Call - will add it to the list. "Trading Places" usually gets a mention but my favourite is Boiler Room - frequently reminds me of AIM! | spectoacc
22/10/2016 11:31 | Specto - I'll have a more detailed look at EFR over the weekend. I am tempted and luckily this is money I can "afford to lose" in common parlance. Strange phrase as who can afford to lose money? Direct investment is more a hobby for me (and hobbies cost money - right?) with my pension funds run by my (expensive) IFA Saw Brewsters Millions a long time ago, very funny as were his films with Gene Wilder another talent lost. My "succesful" trading feels more like The Big Short or Margin Call at times. I don't know if you have seen either but they are two different takes on the 2008 debacle but I enjoyed them both. | larmor
21/10/2016 11:06 | @Praipus - DVWA/DVW not one I've looked at before, but I note the offer is agreed, has 40% irrevocables, and is structured as a Scheme of Arrangement (75% hurdle). I'm not reading all 12 pages to find out break fee etc but... | spectoacc
21/10/2016 10:43 | Anyone notice DVW under offer from Ancala (who?) IMHO offer should be double based on enterprise value, asset growth and dividend stream....may not be too late chase...IMO | praipus
21/10/2016 10:34 | Yes! Played by the late, great Richard Pryor, coincidentally the star of another fantastic money-related film - Brewster's Millions. I've had trading days where I felt like Brewster in reverse. Most of the investment trust threads on ADVFN seem pretty good (some very good) for research, debate, and arguing both sides civilly. In stark contrast to single-co threads :) I note EFR bid being offered by the RSPs is the highest yet - 39p - with plenty of small sellers taking advantage, probably because last night's NAV announcement showed yet another fall, so now down 10% in 3 weeks whilst £ has gone other way. Personally, I've bought a lot more EFR recently and am taking on the risk of Lonestar coming a cropper. Can see an argument for just spreadbetting the price of oil instead, but time will tell. | spectoacc
21/10/2016 10:24 | Specto thanks for the info and the link plus your posts on the other Ecofin thread. Both threads are quite civilised compared to others I read on ADVFN, including Nanoco (small stake) and Eden (no holding) Talking of 0.5 of a share, wasn't there a Superman film where the guy in payroll rounded everybody's salary down to the nearest dollar and syphoned off the difference making millions? Not an ideal investment strategy as he got busted in the end. Thanks once again Larmor | larmor
20/10/2016 16:24 | @Larmor - looks right, both to price paid out at and 724 EFR shares (technically 724.5 but selling 0.5 of a share would be even trickier) ;) Interesting article re Lonestar (75% of EFR) here - is a risk I'm taking on but can see why discount so large: | spectoacc
20/10/2016 14:46 | Specto thanks. I was thinking along those line as Barclays' commission would amount to around 5% on that amount. I was also contemplating buying more if the discount to NAV is encouraging and as you day they'll pay out eventually. BTW I was paid 135.54 per share for my modest 2898 shares plus I got 724 EFR. Could you or any other kind soul confirm that's correct? I'm too tired today to wade through the documentation and trust my own mathematical competence :) | larmor
20/10/2016 11:38 | @Larmor you could join everyone else & sell, been a lot of small sells going through! Personally I'd hold, they'll pay out eventually & is hardly worth the commission in selling. | spectoacc
20/10/2016 11:05 | Ditto wskill although I tendered 100% of my holding and got cash for the lot. Just got to check their calculations and price used, not that I don't trust them :) Now got to decide what to do with the miserable £200 odd's worth of realisation fund shares I got. | larmor
20/10/2016 10:55 | Got my cash yesterday as well don't know why they made it so awkward and continuous emails they have always been good in the past. | wskill
19/10/2016 20:15 | I'm with Barclays and got paid out today. It took a couple of phone calls and a formal complaint. I was given the same excuse that the ECWO registrars were holding things up. I was able to give them a list (from bulletin board discussion) of brokers who had already settled two weeks ago. | rushmore
19/10/2016 13:07 | I'm still waiting for cash from Barclays also. Was told on Monday that it would take another 5 working days to hit my account (3 before they received cash and 2 to process it), so should be in by start of next week. Fingers crossed. Doesn't look good that it has taken them so long. | neilg2
14/10/2016 11:57 | All other brokers seem to have sorted it a week ago - perhaps the cheque to Barclays got lost in the post.. | spectoacc
14/10/2016 10:27 | wskill that's the message I got from yesterday. I have a minute amount of the resolution fund shares and that's it. They blamed the registrars, well they would wouldn't they? | larmor
14/10/2016 10:20 | Hi all is anyone waiting for the cash of Barclays stock brokers still they have told me that the cash has not been received. | wskill
06/10/2016 10:20 | "In line with the dividend policy, the Board has resolved to target quarterly dividend payments of 1.6 pence per share for the period to 30 September 2017, which is equivalent to an annualised yield of 4.55 per cent. on an NAV of 140.63 pence per share as at 23 September 2016, the Company's opening NAV. The Board will review the quarterly dividend payments for the year commencing 1 October 2017 with a view to having a progressive dividend policy. " More like 4.9% on the share price, if they maintain that level. | spectoacc
03/10/2016 11:52 | Happy with the nav position here. Looking out for divi info..... | neilyb675
01/10/2016 18:21 | hxxp://www.ecofin.co NAV is 140.63p which is better than expected since the ECWO news release was stating an expected 135.5p. | orinocor |
