I have dug out the figures for performance materials for H2 last year. T dropped from £21.822m to £20.499m which was a decline of 6% - exactly the same as today's statement.

Amixed bag indeed...the facts don't look too good but there is a definite bullish style to the imbedded sentiment. Overall it suggest that the future is rosy but not just yet.

Don't know clangor2. I think there could be some broker downgrades following the IMS but, as you say, the AGM may be more revealing.

A mixed bag of information in DYS' IMS but I see nothing there to warrant the market reaction. But then, we should be used to that by now and I'm just hoping that the AGM will throw more of a positive slant as regards the ongoing situation.

Is the Lomas mentioned in the RNS a brother of the Lomas Board member ?

The market appears to have warmed to the news with the slightly firmer share price again this morning.

Now he is below 3% we will not know if he sells more. Did you know that until 1998 the Lomas family controlled DYS through a two-tier share system?

I wonder if the 200k dumped by Mr Lomas last week is the start or end of his trading ? Is there a clue what with the firmer share price today ?

Garth - I cannot share your optimism in the short term. Confined indoors by the rain yesterday, I spent a long while reading the annual report. Although I was impressed by the opportunities building up for 09,10 and beyond I read caution in the short term - not the least because it will be a period of internal reorganisation. Consensus is for earnings to fall from 13.3 to 11.8 in the current year before going back up to 15.7 in the year to 3/10. At that point then with further strong growth coming they would deserve a p/e of 20 giving a price of 314p. However, the market is thinking very short term in these uncertain times and the next results are the interims. Last years were very strong - 8.57 of the 13.29 came in the first half, which means that on a straight comparison this year's could provoke a nasty reaction.

As a result, I'm not going to add until after the AGM statement on 25/9 at least. Long term this should be a bargain but the only short-term mover would be an opportunistic bid (Morgan Crucible?).

On a lighter note, I see that the AGM is once again at Tapton Hall. This year we have photos of the board in the report for the first time. We can only guess what the previous management looked like from this photo of last year's AGM:

Are we off again? At least 140p and nearer to 180p for anything even approaching fair value - even in these markets, IMO.

I note a 3.5% divi will be paid to those on the register 18th September.

The past 3 weeks would have been a good time to be on vacation as far as DYS share activity is concerned. However its certainly 'consolidated' very firmly, so I may now start buying up a few and sticking 'em away as they used to say, as DYS appears a much 'safer' share, without the Carolite issues.
There is also a probability that DYS are considerably undervelued at todays price.

Hi Priscilla. How are you doing? Yup - Carolite proved a white elephant. Business stilll looking conservatively valued on fundamentals though, IMO. I'm hoping that the autumn will brng a slow and steady re-evaluation.....

Just a social visit to say 'hello' to Churchy, Garth and other regular posters here. It seems Carolite has been a big disappointment to all; but at least the wait is over and hopefully the new team will revitalise the company and the share price After all, where else would they get such loyal shareholders?

The apparent higher price now is comforting but a 10-fold increase in the daily traded volume is needed - it would work wonders for my confidence too !

The MM website has been revamped as if Carolite never existed! The company produces neutron absorber pellets full stop and the latest news is a welcome to PL as the new Ch. Exec.

Evening ch,
I realised your enthusiasm for Carolite, and it was very unfortunate the way that it came to a conclusion.
I myself am not down on the share. So, lets move on, and the share action recently shows considerable optimism.
I won't be posting regularly so all the best .

Hectorp - Hello again. I must apologise to you and possibly others too for my mistaken firm belief that the Carolite project would succeed. I relied too heavily on Management statements and foolishly trusted in their accuracy and optimism. It has been an enormously expensive lesson to learn. We have a new and seemingly more professional team in place and we can only hope that they will now take the Group forward. Certainly in view of Mr Lammers comments about the Group's starting position in his strategic review it is difficult to know what if any contribution or guidance the previous and present Chairmen have made.

Regards CH.
