A brand new Domino's Pizza outlet has opened in Saltney, Flintshire, bringing almost 40 new jobs to the area in a variety of roles.

The new store opening marks the seventh franchise outlet for Wirral-based company AKS Partners. The firm has seven branches across the North Wales and Wirral area with plans to expand further in the future. With the introduction of AKS Partner's latest addition, the company now employs 264 people across all of its outlets

Local Thames Valley University student Lucy Gleadell from Brentford has placed a tall order with pizza delivery company Domino's, after winning a freshers' fair competition to scoop her height in pizza.

Lucy's 5ft 8' frame has won her a whopping 35 freshly made, piping hot pizzas from the Domino's store on Uxbridge Road, Hanwell. The 'height in pizzas' prize was donated by Domino's as part of its stand at this year's Thames Valley freshers' fair.

Pizza, Pasta and Italian Food Industry 2010 Award Winners Announced

2010-11-11

November 11, 2010 - Press Dispensary - The quality standards among Britain's top independent Italian and pizza restaurants is getting better and better, according to the judges of this year's annual Pizza Pasta & Italian Food Industry Awards, with no fewer than 11 getting Gold Awards and two Platinums.

Scotland also features strongly in this year's awards, almost half the independent winners coming from either Edinburgh or Glasgow with the overall Pizza Chef of the Year award going to Darren Smith from the Battlefield Restaurant in Glasgow.

Nationally Pizza Hut and Domino's Pizza took the awards for national pizza restaurant and delivery chair, respectively, while Asda took top spot in the multiple chilled retailer category with the Co-op winning the convenience store category in the same section. Frozen pizza retailer was Iceland, while Morrisons took the award as pasta retailer of the year with the Co-op again taking the convenience category. The Co-op also won the frozen pizza convenience store section.

The awards were presented as part of the Pizza, Pasta & Italian Food Industry Awards Dinner 2010 which was held at the Lancaster London Hotel on Thursday November 11.

Domino's Pizza in Saltney creates nearly 40 new jobs

The opening of a new pizza takeaway branch in Saltney created nearly 40 jobs for the area.

Wirral-based AKS Partners, a family-run firm, opened its seventh Domino's Pizza branch in Chester Street earlier this year after securing financial backing from NatWest.

The bank provided a loan to help AKS buy the property and equip the store.
The opening of the new store has resulted in 39 jobs being created and AKS now employs 264 staff across its branches.

Dr Talib Al Kadhimi, of AKS Partners, said: "We are keen to grow our franchise business by opening new stores in good retail locations across Merseyside, Cheshire and the Wirral.

"We look forward to welcoming both new and existing customers to Saltney."
John Fillingham, relationship manager at NatWest in Liverpool, said: "For many years AKS has demonstrated how to run a successful franchise business.
"We are happy to support their expansion plans and look forward to helping them open future stores."

Domino's Pizza opened its first store in the UK in 1985 and today employs 20,000 people across more than 640 stores in the UK and Ireland.

'Domino's Pizza teams up with "Pennies" the electronic charity box'

Domino's Pizza will become the first UK retailer to team up with the electronic charity box, Pennies, when the system goes live from today.
Online customers of Domino's will now have the opportunity to round up the cost of their order to the nearest pound, with the pennies being donated to charity. Donations of a minimum of 1p to a maximum of 99p can be made via the new online concept.

'Streetwise Soccer scores support from Domino`s Pizza Bolton'

Budding footballers in Bolton received an added boost at Friday's StreetWise Soccer event, thanks to sponsorship from Domino's Pizza.

Domino's sponsored the youth football event, which took place at Bolton Town Hall on Friday [October 29, 2010]. Kicking off at 10am, the StreetWise Soccer day saw freestyle footballers from across the UK showing off their skills in a freestyle competition. In addition, local youngsters tried their hands (and feet!) at a match in the Streetwise Soccer Panna Cage, as well as picking up hints and tips from workshops taking place throughout the day. The budding footballers also competed in a skills competition – the StreetWise Soccer freestyle football showdown – which was won by Connor McCarthy.

As part of Domino's sponsorship, staff from the stores in Derby Street and Blackburn Road, Bolton, were on hand to assist with the sporting activities, as well as providing piping hot pizza slices for the town's top young talent.

Morning, looking firm again.

Last year on november 10th we had notification of the results date for the 13 weeks trading to the end of december which turned out to be on january 6th so that notification could come next week.

The spur for the latest leg-up seems to have been the last two broker notes on 29th september.
