27/8/2004 08:26 | sper.... It would appear that the whole sector is not doing to well at the moment. Don't hold these, but hold some Blooms, their last Trading update was not too good, but feel that Blooms is in excellent shape for the long term. I will continue to hold BBR, as the wide spread makes it unworthwhile trying to trade them. Good luck with your investment here ;-) Following graph is based on the BBR price | gateside
19/8/2004 09:48 | Is this suffering as a result of the Blooms BBR profit warning, Wyevale (WGC) also falling but interesting WGC and DGC not issued profit warning and falling, BBR issues profit warning and falls only to bounce up and them some! Suggest WGC and DGC issue profit warning on that basis imho | sper
17/8/2004 10:19 | Not liking this much! | sper
03/8/2004 12:20 | Significant buys today | sper
08/7/2004 12:09 | Ariane - thanks, good article DGC ticking up nicely today on very little activity. Ridiculously small spread at the mo (less than 1%) | sper
29/6/2004 08:34 | Wyevales results are nothing to write home about. | hybrasil
24/6/2004 13:59 | Seymour Pearce say this rates as an "outperform". So that's two positive and one negative note in the past couple of days. | thamestrader
23/6/2004 15:20 | Volume of trades gone mental for DGC today to use the correct trading terminology | sper
23/6/2004 08:38 | There have been two newspaper tips since the results. One says reduce, the other buy. Me? I'll hold. The results weren't as good as the trading statement suggested two months ago (like for like up 6.9% instead of 7.3%), due to poor weather in the intervening months, presumably. Anything around 7% is OK, though, isn't it? SBRY or MKS would LOVE that kind of growth. New space coming online, divi up 10%, all sounds good for the future IMHO. This'll be a steady, if unspectacular earner. That's TT's verdict. | thamestrader
23/6/2004 07:49 | Up 10p in two days | sper
22/6/2004 12:49 | Interesting 6p up and all on the offer price | sper

22/6/2004 08:59 | Good steady performer. From visiting a couple of centres recently they have certainly increased their margins - no doubt to pay for the increased costs (up 10%)but the quality and range of products have been maintained. Interested to see the growth of the cafeterias ( grey power like to go for a cup of tea) and also DGC are looking at food halls as an extension.Judging by the demand at one centre I would have said they could capture a niche market as their garden centres are big enough for one stop shopping. I added a few shares yesterday and look forward to steady progress over the next few years as DGC has excellent management and are developing that aspect as they grow a la Tesco. kind regards linhur | linhur
22/6/2004 08:37 | LONDON (AFX) - Dobbies Garden Centres PLC said like for like sales in the six weeks to mid-June were up 6.9 pct. For the first half to end-April the group reported a 3.8 pct rise in pretax profit to 1.9 mln stg on total sales up 7.5 pct to 23.4 mln stg, despite a soggy March and April. The board raised the interim dividend by 10 pct to 2.9 pence. Chairman Alex Hammond-Chambers said the rise in sales was influenced in part by ongoing developments within the portfolio of garden centres and in part the opening of the group's new 42,000 square feet centre at Ayr, where sales have greatly exceeded expectations. Given the favourable trading that has taken place in May and early June, the board said it is still of the opinion that the greater part of the profit that the group will earn for the year will be made in the second half, although a very poor summer from now on would obviously affect the overall level of profit. However, the group said there are a number of other factors which should drive the second half performance. The centre at Ayr will be trading for the full six month period and the new and unique horticultural visitor centre at Atherstone, the group's largest garden centre, should add to footfall there. The development of the group's food halls, offering locally produced merchandise, is also helping to broaden product range and customer expenditure. The group said it remains optimistic about the future growth of Dobbies Garden Centres. newsdesk@afxnews.com slm/ | waldron

21/6/2004 10:50 | Had a very positive write-up in the Sunday Herald yesterday. | thamestrader
21/6/2004 10:36 | Lots of buys, interims out tomorrow | sper
07/6/2004 15:35 | 7000 shares bought today, all in round tranches and the last 5000 all very quickly. To me thats interesting but is it to someone who knows what they are doing? | sper
28/4/2004 08:50 | Big move down today (by DGC standards), not sure why | sper
08/4/2004 14:42 | Oh so annoying that considerable buys sees no price move but a single sale sees a drop. | sper
22/3/2004 10:22 | almost exclusively buying activity for the last two weeks, up to 1% of share cap I estimate and yet the price goes down. Doh! | sper |
