The Nasdaq listing is almost irrelevant now, it'll be about the figures and whether they can drum up enough business to rival Alipay and WeChat, which are way ahead with this payment method, they are three quarters round the circuit when DJI is just starting as the chap on twitter said.

The news agencies get a big fee also from DJI for it to operate in each of the provinces and the contract is only for 3 years and probably 6 months in already with half of them.

Do not be caught out here, the figures mentioned are the total market and the other payment platforms are already running and have lots of special offers for customers, with big incentives from Alipay and Tencent (whose payment app is still not profitable apparently, read the WSJ article I posted).

This is why I sounded the alarm earlier this week, with thanks to Connor Davidson who flagged it up on twitter.

It just revives memories of Monitise for me and therefore caution at this stage is essential, the figures will reveal all in due course.

From that article on Nasdaq listing...

"1) The company expects to list on Nasdaq in the fall, I believe in October"

I understand that the submission for Nasdaq is pretty much ready and they are just awaiting the formal appointment of the US broker. The 20-F application to the SEC then takes up to four weeks to process. The question and answer process with the SEC after that normally takes about two weeks. However, the whole process can be shorter or longer by a number weeks, so the Nasdaq listing date is a moving target. DJI appears to have a strong application and ought get through the regulatory process reasonably quickly. In its favor, DJI is already LSE Aim listed, will likely have a major broker sponsor in the US, has recently secured good quality institutional placements, has binding deals with Xinhua, and that it is also commencing its revue build-up from this month.

Yep, the final para says "Once the shares are listed on Nasdaq, people around the company believe they should quickly re-rate to the £2-3 mark. It is worth bearing in mind that a £4 share price is equivalent to around a US$1.07bn market cap, which is really not a particularly demanding in the context of this kind of stock on Nasdaq. If the Chinese lift their suspension on state lotteries, as is hoped for in coming months, this would probably provide further uplift for DJI as it has a number of lucrative contracts on hold in this space" which is consistent with the short term fungible £2.50 which I have posted about.

Thank you. I personally think 3 or 5 is irrelevant. Mr Mercer has gone to great lengths to integrate himself with the culture and language of the country and I believe that will be a very important factor going forward. Everybody is entitled to their opinion both ways. With what I know, I'm holding tight and adding were opportunity presents itself.

All the best

Yes I am getting a bit fed up with the manner in which some are trying to talk this down so just wanting to give balance by posting what I understand to be correct. I am getting the information from a trusted friend who has a considerable shareholding. He first told me about DJI in 2014. He bought at 30p but is holding half of his stake to about £2.50 and the rest for the longer haul. I have 103,000 shares and plan to sell enough to get my stake money out at around £2.50 and then hold.

There is more good news due in the form of the announcement of listing on the NASDAQ with disclosure of £2.50 per share which is fungible across the UK and US markets. This will be announced before the end of the month so not too long before this moves up significantly again.

TopazI do in part appreciate the concerns you have highlighted.I had a look at link The Prophet kindly put up earlier this morning. I dont think it wise to dismiss this chap Conner Davidson out of hand. He appears to be a young guy but probably raised some valid points and I would suggest others trawl through what he is saying about DJI on Twitter. Apart from flagging the very chunky options package granted to DM last year one eye catcher was on 2nd Sept which was titled something like "Why do you need DJI to do this" and it was a link to a blog The Beijinger where someone manages to pay government owned utilities using either WeChat or Alipay. The blog takes you through the steps stage by stage with screenshots. I think he claims Wechat charges half what DJI charge in commission and have over 300m users and are not yet at break even. I wouldn't dismiss what he says out of hand yet.

quazie,

Connor writes for Seeking Alpha but has not written on DJI yet. If he manages to, with all the negatives he has pointed out on twitter then this could suddenly tank, that is why I pointed out his warnings, because they are valid somewhat, especially if you read the WSJ article on the Chinese market place for mobile payments and how fierce it is, linked earlier this morning.

the clangers,

I am assuming that toyin has answered your query regarding the three years initial exclusivity contract run (at a cost).

I hope the news that comes out is good but I'm out for now but wish you all the best of luck. Will revisit if there is a Nasdaq listing etc. and when proper figures come out rather than just assumptions, the competition is way stiffer than I originally thought.

hardly think it's worth giving this guy air-time, but here you go

No articles on DJI, but he has done a few 'tweets' such as the 12 year old 'news' in the Telegraph.
About as relevant as anyone on this bb may post.
Forget him and move on is my advice.

Topaz i cannot see Connor Davidson writing about DJI on Seeking Alpha. The only articles are the two from Paul Ensor. Can you possibly direct me to what he has written on there ?Re the Wall Street Journal article my initial reaction is positive for DJI. The May 16 article demonstrates just how much mobile payment has taken off in China. By forging alliances and signing contracts to deliver on utility type payments by the public to government agencies this is very different to the bunfight described in the WSJ. I am at a loss as to how you have joined the dots here ?Q12

Please see last paragraph.

All the best

DJI's technology and platform will enable the Xinhua News App to facilitate mobile payments. The market opportunity for a move to online payments through mobile is being driven by two factors: the steady migration of individuals from rural areas in China to urban centres, which in any event have higher levels of smartphone ownership; and the expansion of the 4G mobile network in areas where online access has been limited provides a significant undeveloped opportunity.

NewNet will provide a B2C service directly through the app and a B2B service through leading channel partners with substantial existing user bases: e-commerce network channels, banks and third party payment processors.

The agreements are for an initial three year period and provide for a profit share between the parties subject to certain guaranteed minimum payments to the provinces.

topazfrenzy, I'm not able to find the broker research report done on DJI. But from what I remember it was a 5 year contract with Xinhua not 3 and that DJI had to pay 400k for each province signed up to obtain an exclusivity agreement. So far 10 out of the 12 targeted have agreed and signed. Happy to be corrected about the contract duration, if wrong.

There are no delays with the NASDAQ listing.
If you are daft/desperate and sell at these levels, I will add to my holding.
NASDAQ listing by end of this month will disclose £2.50 price which is fungible either side of the Atlantic Ocean, so £2.50 in short term, and much more later. This company's execs are very well connected.

Do you really think it's that easy to list a company on a stock exchange.

Genises, I never short anything, but this Connor guy has a short he says; he did however manage to put my sceptical brain to work and question things here. And for that reason I feel it's the right thing to report it rather than pretend those issues are not there, the delays with the Nasdaq listing does not help and makes me wonder about the integrity of CEO Mercer and the entire business in China.

Following on from yesterday, Connor put a link to this article below, which is very interesting and shows how competitive that market for mobile payments in China actually is so I would strongly advise caution in regards to all forecasts now issued by the company and its brokers. Sorry to be somewhat of a party pooper but learning caution always ends up making one money by avoiding the pitfalls of 'love'. Many will have profits at this stage and the worst thing is for them to disappear suddenly when the company fails to deliver. I am also wondering whether the Nasdaq listing is going to happen soon, if ever, it was promised last year and even before, with more 'certainty' recently, however it could be that US investors are not interested after all with the competition of Alipay and Tencent out there and only a 3 year contract with Xinhua. Lots of things to consider. One of the last Institutaional Investors too, if you look at the details, is only in for 3 to 6 months, so a quick buck outfit, does one want to be there when they pull the plug, and does the CEO have any affiliations with the people there, lots of unanswered questions I am afraid so I am sounding the alarm. Of course I could be just panicking after all the Connor stuff I read on twitter... GLA
