23/4/2009 13:20 | I have a copy of the email i recieved today from Disco as i wrote to them yesterday, and i have to say i am impressed with the speed of the response and the content! Dear Mr Glover, Thank you for your email to Discover Leisure regarding yesterday's announcement. The announcement was sent out in response to a request from the AIM Team after the rapid rise in the share price. Brian Brian Coleman-Smith | Director | Cubitt Consulting Limited So it seems AIM made them send a RNS, due to the rapid rise of the share, however, i feel this may of been worded negatively, but i see the share price has now gathered pace again, to Tuesdays price. Onwards and forwards i say! | biffus2
23/4/2009 13:12 | Well i believe this company is in for a good summer, so i topped up yesterday and im glad to see the share price gradually rising, i too have a rather large holding, though i was lucky enough to buy these at .86p. David if you have a few too i suggest buying some more to average down from your initial 22p to ease the burden, and i can see why you are negative, with your losses, but there is a bright future i think for this company. | biffus2
23/4/2009 08:15 | The RNS confirms the seasonal uplift, caravan sales are up according to other sources, this business has a 10% market share. I am in for higher than expected sales during the important spring/summer season. The weather is on our side and the experimental seasonal forecasts from the Met Office forecast temperatures to be warmer than the seasonal normal this summer and that is a big plus for caravan sales. Can this company maintain its market share? | jayson26jay
23/4/2009 07:59 | Biffus - read the RNS. You said "Question is why would the broker Panmure come out and say to Disco to put out this very negative RNS when we all know that caravanning this year will be very high." The company says ""On 30th January 2009, our AGM statement highlighted the continuation of the low levels of demand in our market during the four months to December 2009. Despite this weak market, group sales were in line with expectations but at the expense of lower than budgeted margins. Since the AGM statement statistics from the National Caravan Council have indicated that demand for new Tourers, Motor Homes and holiday homes in the UK has fallen much further behind last year and this has further impacted the Company's results. "During March and April 2009, the beginnings of a seasonal uplift in demand have been evident however low levels of consumer confidence continue to make it very difficult to predict the outcome for the full year to 31 August 2009." -------------------- Unfortunately, my "vested interest", as you put it, is much larger than I'd now like :-( I sold good shares to buy these. The story seemed plausible. I accepted it. I subscribed for new shares @ 22p a couple of years ago so they have had a good story in the past. The directors have done well in the past - but it was a different world then. | david77
22/4/2009 22:18 | I think that if you have no vested interest in this share ie david77 and eric why be here? there are others BB's you can pester! personally i like this as i own quite a few shares and like other investors, im keen to see this share do well! Sorry David im guessing then you hvae inside info as to how many sales they have from the site managers you know?, i dont recall that in the RNS I think they said there was an upturn in sales in march and april however customer confidence remains low, which you'd expect in a recession, but to come out and point blank tell all share holders and potential buyers old news is plain daft! | biffus2
22/4/2009 21:45 | Eric. You make me laugh. No-where to be seen were you when this was tipped at 1.2p, a mega 250 rise to todays high, plenty of time to get out. Now you come on here accusing some posters of ramping. I myself expected this share to do very well and as like others believed it would reach dizzy highs on the back of news coming out about the sector in general. I was as shocked as anyone today by the RNS.!!! | topinfo
22/4/2009 20:07 | as I predicted 20 apr TOPINFO..... RAMPALICIOUS!! quote" this share dont need no ramping" lol | ericardlussa
22/4/2009 19:58 | i knew this one was dodgy when i started getting emails from some small cap research house offering me the chance to buy shares at 22p off market when they were at 24p listed price. needless to say i resisted their kind offer. | brando69
22/4/2009 19:44 | "why did barclays up there stake from 3 million to 9 million? " private punters like you and me. | tomboyb
22/4/2009 19:40 | Biffus2 "It seems crazy to send out this negative RNS when the share price was heading into the price range of which it should be around the 5p mark" What is the right price for any share? Who says that the right price is 5p? "Question is why would the broker Panmure come out and say to Disco to put out this very negative RNS when we all know that caravanning this year will be very high." Clearly, you haven't told Disco's directors. I trust that you will on the phone tomorrow and we can expect another RNS during the morning saying "Sorry, we got it wrong. Biffus has now told us that sales are much higher than the figures from our own site managers". | david77
22/4/2009 19:32 | No my question is why put it out? all it does is scare monger! If i were to own the UK's biggest caravan/motorhome comapany and saw my shares gradually growing to be where they supposed to be why in god's earth would i send out an RNS that tell people old news? i think there may be something other than factual old news at work here. why did barclays up there stake from 3 million to 9 million? because they were selling less caravans? because they are the loan owners? is this going to be a case of loan company calling it in at end of year and then buying it as a pre-pack for nothing knowing it turns over 153million ? | biffus2
22/4/2009 19:12 | Biffus - the RNS is quite negative because business isnt doing well.... what are they supposed to do ? lie? It occurred to me the other day whilst looking at this share, that although bookings at caravan parks may be doing well, that doesnt mean people are necessarily buying caravans... I think people who have them are just dusting them off, rather than new people buying. Biffus - Caravan SALES clearly arent doing well - thats a FACT - its not madness to put out a FACTUAL RNS. Harmoye - you are incredibly naive if you think they put out RNS' 10 mins before putting out another RNS telling you a bad one is coming! They HAD to put it out because the situation was simply not true, they arent selling more caravans, they are selling less. | stegrego
22/4/2009 19:03 | Nester people were buying into this stock because sales were on the up after 12mths of stagnant sales due to the current climate. 90% of the british public will be staying in the UK this year due to the pound value abroad. It seems crazy to send out this negative RNS when the share price was heading into the price range of which it should be around the 5p mark. Question is why would the broker Panmure come out and say to Disco to put out this very negative RNS when we all know that caravanning this year will be very high. As for saying this share was getting out of hand is just plain silly, it was returning to a price it should be at but now it will be lucky if it stays above 1p thanks to an ill-wrote pr gaff of information that is old news!! lets hope PI's will see that the price tomorrow will be a buy! Selling on old news is Madness!!! | biffus2
22/4/2009 18:55 | Harmoye That RNS will have come out at the request of the NOMAD It is plain that the trading was getting out of hand and it is now clear that the company believes it was a false market or that the share was being pumped. They have done the right thing and laid out the facts and current situation within the business. It is up to the punters to determine what the right price is. DISL has been pumped as a hot stock. The trades have gone from a handfull at the start of the month to a hundred a day and then 170+ today - all the company is saying is that "these are the facts keep going if you want to". This looks like a neatly executed pump and dump to me. Why did all these people suddenly decide to buy DSIL? BTW, the NOMAD will have ensured that the RNS was simply factual. They have had too much trouble (and fines), for allowing AIM stocks to put out pumping RNS | nestor makhno
22/4/2009 18:38 | Agree Biffus, the rns was quite negative. The company could have, should have, worded the rns much better. The rns came so suddenly and was totally unexpected. I must appologise because i myself was singing the companies praises. But to do this to loyal shareholders is bad form. I have lost approx 3 grand today in the space of an hour. I will have to stand the loss, but can't see people having faith in disl again. | harmoye
22/4/2009 17:02 | Can someone tell me when a share is doing well and it was going very well early this afternoon, WHY THE BLOODY HELL does the company send out a NEGATIVE RNS??? And boom everyones jumping ship!! | biffus2
22/4/2009 16:55 | I've got too many Corac CRA - they announce preliminary results tomorrow - I just hope that they are positive and make up for the DISL disappointment - my my wife will say "I told you so" if they are not :-( | david77
22/4/2009 16:37 | Got rid of 300k with dificulty. Hope for better things tomorrow. | knitcraft
22/4/2009 16:33 | yes - back to below 1p is my guess. The rns was not positive and talk of bank breaches etc, was not what the mkt wanted to hear. Plenty of holders will not have seen this note this afternoon so the dumping may continue. Oh well. | barnetpeter
22/4/2009 16:28 | Unstopable stampede... | harmoye
22/4/2009 16:14 | David, know what you mean mate. Disl is ok, banks are backing them and sales are just starting to pick up. Headless chickens and all that. | harmoye
22/4/2009 16:05 | I've done it before - bought loads of Biofuels BFC - fortunately got out before they went bust, - bought loads of Toledo mining TMC before they went up to nearly £5 before the share price collapsed to 10p - now 28.5p mid - and bought loads of these :-( My buying is the kiss of death - sorry fellas :-( | david77
22/4/2009 16:00 | Going up again. Any company that gets bank backing in this market normally triples it's share price Isen't that what we've all been waiting for? | harmoye
22/4/2009 15:58 | It seems the RNS has been issued to dampen down a market that was showing signs of becoming hyper-active. That seems quite responsible behaviour to me if disappointing given a 3.6 peak this morning. They are enjoying a seasonal uplift, it is too early to tell whether that will be sustained. They did breach their covenants, their banks are though supporting them and not making a fuss about the breach. In summary they are coming out of a dark place, but slowly and without any real confidence that business levels will return. Business still has significant UK market share, excellent management, substantial domestic demand, stock and financing support. All in all that seems good to me so I will nurse my 200K and keep my fingers crossed that Darby and Joan want to go caravanning this summer with their mates. | naiad |
