24/5/2008 12:51 | thanks callumross - exactly. Leeds Group results make nice reading too: LEEDS GROUP plc Preliminary Results for the year ended 30 September 2007 Group profit before tax was £760,000 (2006: £743,000 before exceptional costs of £838,000). Hemmers-Itex sales were 7.4% higher at £17,523,000 (2006: £16,320,000) and profit before tax was £662,000 (2006: £712,000). Investment in people and infrastructure taking place at Hemmers-Itex to exploit growth opportunities. Further reductions of £42,000 in Central Costs. 3,325,618 shares bought back in the year at a cost of £735,000, of which 1,698,603 shares were cancelled. Net asset value per share increased by 10% to 34.4 pence. Earnings per share from Continuing Operations were 1.5 pence (2006:1.0 pence). No dividend proposed while Board continues search for suitable investment opportunities. "The Board continues to look for other acquisitions or investments that will strengthen the Group and benefit shareholders. In the meantime, Hemmers-Itex continues to perform in line with the expectations of both its management and the Board." THE POINT IS THAT I THINK THEY REALLY DO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING!! | springbok
24/5/2008 12:46 | "they are now using ldsg cash" - cg1953 - you really don't know what you are talking about - DWSN don't get that £1m of LDSG cash - the vendors of the shares do! | callumross
24/5/2008 12:44 | cg1953 - total rubbish. I have absolutely no doubt that Leeds Group will not be pumping any cash into Dawson. Also the share purchase price did not go to Dawson! This is the interesting part (taken from Leeds Group website): "A particular strength of Hemmers-Itex is the detailed knowledge of Far-Eastern textile manufacturers that has been accumulated over the years, enabling the Company to source product that matches the exacting quality and price requirements of the competitive market in which it operates." There is no doubt in my mind that Leeds is going to "re-parcel" the chinese deal. Nice little play on their part - buy 65 million shares at 1.5p and sell them again on the T/O for probably 4p plus!!! | springbok
24/5/2008 11:18 | terrible news for both companies. using ldsg cash, because they now have none of there own !!! what do they know that the potential chinese investor doesnt ? less, thats what. perhaps they are attempting a greenmail; as camellia tried on them with with bms and succeded; but then CAM is a very smart investor. am told whats left of moorhouse and brook [ykld] is not worth mentioning !!! | cg1953
24/5/2008 11:00 | its the kiss of death. there track record is nothing to boast about. they are now using ldsg cash because they have no funds of there own anymore. terrible news for both companies. | cg1953
23/5/2008 23:07 | Is it just me or does this look like it was engineered down so Leeds could buy on the cheap ? Sales goes through ... share price starts on journey northwards ... | ihavenoclue
23/5/2008 21:19 | Wow what a break out chart. No resistance until pass 4p level. | springbok
23/5/2008 19:53 | callum you're a nuisance - I wanted to buy a couple of 100k at 2.5p on Tuesday morning!! Only joking - welcome aboard! | battyman2
23/5/2008 19:51 | Nice thread IHNC | battyman2
23/5/2008 17:12 | wow callum ... that is a LONG time to watch a stock ... welcome aboard | ihavenoclue
23/5/2008 16:33 | well, that's me in for 150k at the close - net assets at interims were about £6m but with the reduction in the pension deficit announced earlier in the month net assets must now be around £20m yet a market cap of only £6m. That plus the stake building means bought in for first time ever, having had DWSN on watchlist for 5 years!!! | callumross
23/5/2008 16:10 | As i thought ... just Third Advance selling entire stake to Leeds group ... so the balance of stock owned by larger investors stays the same | ihavenoclue

23/5/2008 15:09 | Just created a thread for chat and opinions on Dawson International PLC. All opinions welcome. Could the following news spark a good recovery at least back to the 4 - 5p area ? Leeds Group PLC 22 May 2008 Leeds Group Plc ("Leeds" or the "Company") Substantial Transaction Leeds announces that it has, today, acquired 64,750,000 shares in Dawson International Plc ("Dawson") representing approximately 28.76% of Dawson's ordinary issued share capital. The purchase price of £971,250.00, equivalent to 1.5 pence per share, will be met from the Company's existing cash resources. Dawson is one of world's leading cashmere businesses, whose headquarters are in Scotland and whose shares are traded on AIM. In the most recently published audited Report & Accounts for the financial year to 31 December 2006, the company made a loss after tax and exceptional items of £785,000 on turnover of £102 million. Further details on Dawson may be found on their website www.dawson-internati The Company considers the purchase of shares in Dawson to be an investment. The Company intends to work with the management at Dawson to increase shareholder value but does not currently intend to increase its shareholding in Dawson above 30 per cent. The remaining business of the Group will continue to operate in line with existing plans. There will be no change to the Board of Directors of Leeds arising from this transaction. | ihavenoclue
23/5/2008 10:32 | Up and up to 4p hopefully. | trentjones1
23/5/2008 10:26 | I see you've made the price move as well! I see that the MMs want to shut up shop until they can find some more shares to sell | battyman2
23/5/2008 10:25 | don't know but well done - ihavenoclue! | battyman2
23/5/2008 10:06 | Got the 50k at 2.475p ... someone selling to cause the slight drop ? | ihavenoclue
23/5/2008 09:53 | I just bought 100k at Barclays at 2.5p ... put another order on for 100k at 2.5p ... got a call .. best they could do is 50k at that price so i took the 50k .... didn't want to be too greedy ... may tick up soon. | ihavenoclue
23/5/2008 09:49 | Did Third Advance not sell it's share to Plus Leeds ? Seems strange to have exactly the same percentage | ihavenoclue
23/5/2008 09:45 | Major shareholdings now: Third Advance Value Realisation Limited 28.76% Cantor Fitzgerald Europe 8.2% Global Asset Management 7.8% Guinness Peat Group plc 6.8% G Ghione 5.8% Man Financial Limited 5.3% Credit Agricole Cheuvreux International Ltd 5.3% Fairmont Investment Trading Limited 4.4% S di Canossa 3.8 Plus Leeds group 28.76%? | battyman2
23/5/2008 09:42 | You're right I think we should start a new thread? | battyman2
23/5/2008 09:19 | This is an awful board ... just a long term chart ? Where's the daily one ? | ihavenoclue |
