06/2/2007 07:55 | cg1953 - Mr Mouse hasn't gone anywhere. I have already stated that at this juncture holding the shares is a bit of a gamble. Whilst an offer for the entire issued share capital has disappeared for now they have clearly stated that talks are ongoing regarding an offer for a substantial shareholding and/or joint venture. Furthermore, the company has a solid balance sheet and whilst the short term share price could be volatile (we know trading conditions are difficult) the company is better placed to weather the storm and eventually recover than at any other time in its recent history. Michael. | michaelmouse
06/2/2007 06:47 | as i thought. mr mouse has gone very quiet. clearly the facts speak for themselves.this company is in intensive care. a return to 10 pence is a forlorn hope for the foreseable future. the balance sheet ? the pension deficit ? imo buy this share only once the directors do, and sell when they do !!!! lol | cg1953
26/1/2007 06:56 | brixlaven. NOT A LOT !!! conditions in the wider industry remain atrocious. | cg1953
25/1/2007 07:07 | WHAT IS GOING ON? | brixlaven
14/1/2007 03:38 | Thanks Michaelmouse.News from DWSN is needed . | brixlaven
13/1/2007 08:51 | T&D spins a new yarn SCOTTISH cashmere group Todd & Duncan has launched a new yarn that it claimed can knit up to 50 per cent faster than traditional cashmere. The Kinross-based firm, part of Dawson International, said its "high performance yarn" knitted at one metre a second compared with two-thirds of a metre by its nearest rival. T&D managing director James McArdle, said: "We believe it has enormous market potential." This article: Last updated: 12-Jan-07 11:54 GMT Also worth noting that Dunelm are doing well at the moment:- "Dunelm confident in FY trading, financial prospects as H1 sales rise 13.2 pct" "LONDON (AFX) - Specialist homewares retailer Dunelm Group PLC said it remains confident in its financial and trading prospects for the year as a whole as it reported 13.2 pct growth in its first half sales. The company said first half sales rose to 178.4 mln stg from 157.6 mln stg year ago, with a like for like sales growth of 5 pct. It said expects to open at least six new superstores in the current financial year." We know that Dorma supply the Dunelm:- "Following major restructuring, which is well ahead of schedule, Dorma is now managed as three discrete business units: Dorma brands, M&S own-label and Dunelm own-label." Add into the mix the preliminary takeover talks and although we know trading for the year 2006 is going to be disappointing (this is more than reflected in the SP) I suggest given these recent developments we are still well short of fair value. As ever. DYOR. Cheers. Michael. | michaelmouse
05/1/2007 17:28 | I wonder if there´ll be any kind of trading update from the company soon and perhaps some news of the takeover talks? | arthur_lame_stocks
24/12/2006 02:50 | arthur. that didnt stop him building a stake in MTA before and after the agreed takeover by crystal hk in the hope that he might extract a higher price than that offered. methinks with the knowledge of his own textile biznesees BMH and YKLD, he realizes DWSN is much too tricky to attempt any greenmail. | cg1953
22/12/2006 11:44 | cg A It looks like the kind of thing he might go for, perhaps he just feels that with so much of the stock concentrated in the hands of just a couple of shareholders that he´d never get the control over the company that he normally likes. Who knows? Doesn´t PG already own most of the British cashmere industry? | arthur_lame_stocks
22/12/2006 10:46 | arthur. am surprised PG hasnt been nibbling at this one. arent you ? | cg1953
21/12/2006 08:19 | New CEO appears fine, but the line .I look forward to continuing to work with him on the future DEV of Dawson, are TO talks still on or not this needs to-be addressed ASAP.Only IMHO. | brixlaven
14/12/2006 22:15 | michaelmouse,I agree,happy to hold at this time. | brixlaven
14/12/2006 17:52 | brixlaven - Since we already know from the interims that trading conditions are difficult, the share price is now dependant on a firm bid being secured. IMO this makes the shares highly speculative. The price has drifted down a little on small volumes with no news for nearly 4 weeks and a tight-lipped company. I continue to hold but recognise that short-term this is a gamble on a firm bid emerging. However, longer term the company is secure financially and the dramatic rise in the share price following the November announcement gives a clear signal that the company is undervalued. I feel quite comfortable with my holding whatever develops short term. Good luck. Michael. | michaelmouse
14/12/2006 09:44 | I note the share price is ticking down,is no news good or bad?you can hear a pin drop. | brixlaven
06/12/2006 10:35 | cg1953,Thanks for your post,just 10 years of in and out,in at this time. | brixlaven
06/12/2006 07:23 | brixlaven. after expenses, i made 40%+ in 3 months.i wish i could do that all the time. lol. currently i have no position.i am now watching. dwsn a stock i have traded sucessfully over many years, but far more with luck than any good management. its been a veritable roller coaster for the past 30 years. i even remember the hostile approach by 'william baird' culminating in dwsn's takeover of 'john haggas' 1978/79 when dwsn was a blue chip textile stock and 'haggas' the pre eminent cash generating company in the industry. | cg1953
06/12/2006 06:48 | Arthur LS.Girls love good gear this market is big relly BIG and IMHO its about to take off.£14 bottom line.ERRROORRR 14p. | brixlaven
05/12/2006 10:13 | So no new news then.cg1953 are you long or short or are you a stock watcher? | brixlaven
05/12/2006 06:48 | arthur yuan strengthening against $, but historically usa very inportant export market for dawson. | cg1953
04/12/2006 11:16 | cg Don´t Dawson import a lot of their stuff from China? Couldn´t the dollar decline actually help them? That said apparantly clothing retailers particularly are having a tough time at the moment. | arthur_lame_stocks
04/12/2006 10:57 | whilst obviously not directly comparable; SRDR profit warning today confirms tough conditions in the textile industry and the $ not helping either. | cg1953
04/12/2006 05:54 | Will the share price give any clues as this is a tight ship,no leeks. | brixlaven
30/11/2006 07:22 | MBO looked a pos as I posted aprox 6 or so months ago so why would you whish to demonstrat confidence only IMHO which is not fact. | brixlaven
29/11/2006 13:22 | michaelmouse. your post to me seemed quite absent of politeness, however i wont waste time responding to its implied putdown. nevertheless, you may see one or two of my posts here and elsewhere 'before and after the fact' thats if you had bothered to read them. i live far from the uk,hence my untimely contributions; nevertheless i retain an interest in selective uk [value] equities. thanks arthur and brixlaven. thanks for caq. most interesting and i hadnt seen it before !!! dwsn; looked pretty good to me too at under 5 pence !!! but if it were so good then how come no management demonstration of that confidence with a small share buy on the the back of those large salaries !!!? btw didnt the italians in the last reorganization take the best of the brands ? finally, just talking to a few people close to whats left of the industry; conditions are and remain dire !!! | cg1953
29/11/2006 10:18 | cg, I think you´re worrying too much about the financial position of the company, it looked pretty good at the last set of results to me. But I don´t blame you for taking a quick profit on it, there´s still a lot of uncertainty and the pension fund could prove a big problem in getting some sort of deal done. I´m still a bit surprised that DWSN and CAQ aren´t interested in each other. | arthur_lame_stocks |
