When this is all over ,my money is going into Safe long term deposits paying over 5% over 5 years ,NO HEADACHES !! Its the analogy of sending your money to Hawaii for a holiday or sending your money to walk the streets of some dodgy London borough.

sd,

Well on the very safe side I was looking at Barclays earlier this week @293p as a safe way to double my money over the next 12-18 months or so and they're now already @320p.

Unfortunately the other two longs I've identified are much smaller companies and therefore quite price sensitive and higher risk so I would be foolish to divulge them before I am in (I hope you understand), both of which have already made significant gains this week (damn!)so whether they will still be viable propositions by Feb 5th is a problem but as always many more opportunities will surely present themselves between now and then.

Once I'm in something I'll happily let you know first if you would like (an old Cybitter with the buying power you have would always be an asset), before posting on any public bb's. Just leave your email addy.

tehart, from memory we should get our money around the 5th February but hopefully now this has gone through unanimously it may be a bit sooner.

I'm slightly disappointed but not surprised by todays decision. Disappointed because I'm sure they would have been prepared to up their offer a bit had the vote gone the other way, as I said before you never put you're best offer on the table first time round... I feel a group with £5 billion in assets behind them would have stretched to £1 a share, Cybit was a company they wanted, a company that is best placed in it's field to penetrate the markets they want to get into. I personally don't think they'd have walked away had the vote gone the other way but hey thats just my opinion and it's all by the by.

For the record I held 50,000 shares this time, I can't wait now to get my hands on the cash because I've got some lovely new stock opportunities that have got me salivating :)

Apart from the Chairman, who did 99% of the talking ,the other 3 members of the board barely spoke . Very strange . Mr Horsman was slightly distant from the proceedings. Maybe nothing ,but I sensed ,there was more to this "scheme of arrangement",than what is let on.( No surprise to all of us here.)

philwill.
If the FSA told us the facts about the stock Market in general, not just AIM ,then its our look out. I realised the market was crooked nearly 18 months ago ,and in my case, luckily I can walk away ,no worse off ,after taking into account my "winnings" on Cybit and my losses on other stock market investments .

In my case I would have been better off leaving my money in a building society . FSA , is a dirty word to me .

Been to the General meeting today.
Both resolutions were unanimously passed .About 14m shares were for, and about 1.3m were against and about 12m not bothered to vote.
The court meeting was conducted by the board and ,and to my mind was the same difference as Basil Fawlty's fire alarm and his burglar alarm - exactly the same .

The Chairman answered all questions ,and apart from me and another equally sad person tried to quiz him ,but he fielded all questions like a true barrister.

This Cybit debacle ,for me it shows the lack of real transparency that the Stock Market lacks today. Not that the Cybit board is dodgy in any real sense ,but Market rules gives Boards, and Main shareholders so many advantages ,that when they get together ,(quite within the rules),the small shareholder is at their mercy.

To my mind there is a lot going on behind the scenes with Cybit that we may find out in due course ,or forever be privy to the insiders, (still within the FSA rules).

The FSA needs to get its act together and do 3 things to the Stock Market Rules.
1. Company ballot voting should be standardised for all companies.ie 1 format.
2. Independent Valuation of a company every 6 months.
3. Independent Audits every 6 months.

An estate Agent can value your house accurately ,but so can anyone with access to the internet or able to browse in estate agents shop windows ,so why is it so different that auditors can't place an average price tag on a quoted company?

I agree, a fun thread to follow. I was hopefull of about £1 a share at some future date but am happy with 75p. It will be interesting to follow the progress of Cybit as I strongly belive it will become an internationally recognised brand.

I agree tehart. It has been fun to follow this thread. Not much left in the telematics line these days. This was definitely the best stock and thread around in that market.

Good luck to everyone after it closes today. ;o)

I agree with all above except BA .... sorry BA you have the ramblings of a man with burnt fingers..... if it was such a dead cert I assume you were buying to average down at 23p - 36p range ??? I guess not hence your bitterness

Save me trawling regs here .... anyone tell me when we get paid if it goes through ?

ps .... for the record the last 6 months or so it was a nice crew here with good balanced informative posts..... good luck to those peeps.

CM - stop being 'devious'. That grin tells me something is afoot (and it is probably a foot).

SSL - Yes, I think it will close too. But then, I am part of the machinery apparently. Makes me wonder why I have been posting everything else for all this time before BA arrived. ;o)

I suspect that 'where money is concerned' people generally make very rational decisions indeed. All the bluster on here has been so much hot air. CM is right - you vote (as I have for my 'percentage' of this group) and you get the result that gives you. People with more shares get more votes, but that is because they had the b*ll*cks to buy more shares in the first place (when few others wanted to know). Learn to live with it.....

'Devious way the voting is being conducted?'

There is a vote. You vote yes or you vote no.

I dont know of any simpler way of doing this. Do you?

Meeting at
Lovells , Atlantic house, 45-51 Holborn Viaduct ,London EC1A 2FG

IT WOULD SEEM WHERE MONEY IS CONCERNED, DECENCY GOES OUT OF THE WINDOW.

BA - you really have lost the plot. 'Part of the markets propaganda machinery'... what kind of consipracy novels are you into?

For everyone else, read below -

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) January 6, 2010 -- Atlanta based Discrete Wireless, Inc., a leading provider of GPS fleet management and location intelligence solutions, and Francisco Partners, one of the world's largest global technology-focused private equity funds, announced today that Discrete Wireless has been acquired by Francisco Partners. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

"We are delighted to become a strategic investment of Francisco Partners. This transaction will help us build on our success as we pursue an aggressive growth strategy to provide our customers and distribution partners with market leading solutions," says Mike Scarbrough, CEO of Discrete Wireless. "Francisco Partners has a track record of fueling the growth of technology-focused companies and brings the level of expertise and support that will greatly benefit the partners and customers of Discrete Wireless."

Neil Garfinkel of Francisco Partners remarked on the transaction, "Francisco Partners is excited about the potential of Discrete Wireless. In reviewing potential investments in this space, Discrete impressed us with the depth and reliability of their MARCUS® solution; it is clearly an industry leading platform. We look forward to working with Mike and his team to support a long-term growth strategy that will help the company reach its full potential."

Francisco are not just buying Cybit, they are buying others in the space. And they are all about companies whose strategy is buy, buy, buy.

Cybit will be better served and cheaper to run with better access to funds in their hands. That is just the way it is when you delist and become owned by those with deep pockets. As much as I hate to say it, for small shareholders you might have had to wait years for 75p going on the last few years records. Whether BA likes it or not.

SOME INFORMATION regarding LOE ARBITRAGE MANAGEMENT,INC

Loe Arbitrage Management,Inc (LAM)is an employee owned hedge fund sponsor. The firm provides its services to POOLED INVESTMENT VEHICLES.It invests in the public equity markets of the US.Loe Arbitrage is based in New York,New York.

If you wanted proof that Cybit "scheme of Arrangement",is just an excuse to remove the small share holders ,just read the above.
By looks of things ,not much selling by the small shareholders,so getting the 75% necessary to approve the "scheme of Arrangement" may not be a forgone conclusion after all.

IF YOU HAVE NOT VOTED YET ,PLEASE TURN UP TOMORROW AT 10 AM AND VOTE NO.

I expect the shares will be suspended tomorrow,IN MY OPINION.

Andre

Spoke to the Takeover Panel recently and was told that behind the scenes agreements by the board and up to 6 other major investors is allowed ,and there is nothing the small shareholders can do ,except vote to oppose this cliquey deal.

The Takeover Panel serves the interests of the institutions ,but not the small shareholders,( of course they will deny this) . Apparently the FSA make up the rules. That explains a lot.

Any new private investors need to be aware that if we dont band together ,we will be at the mercy of everyone.
Cybit have been reasonable as they could have taken us to the cleaners ,if they so chose.

ps. Andre , I know you are part of the market's propaganda machinery .

Hi BA,

All it says really is that they will be in a better position to continue what they were doing anyway - buying other businesses. I imagine the shares/options owned by directors had an influence on it being recommended, of course. But I see nothing here to suggest anything imminent as far as a takeover is concerned.

All in all, they will save the costs of listing and being accountable to PI's. Makes for a sensible approach to continued business for the company but whether it is in the interests of small PI's is debatable and not really too relevant to Cybit I would think.

Not sure what they might acquire next - except a shedload of debt (for acquisitions) to service which will probably come next IMHO. Although that isn't anything for the PI's to concern themselves with as Cybit is off their radar if this goes through - which I think it will.

JMHO

The way this was timed I didn't really expect a rival bid SD but I do expect the current offer to be bumped if they are unsuccessful at 75p.
