11/11/2017 11:28 | There is not yet an established awareness that CPW is in Currys, but people are starting to become aware and when they pop in to buy a washing machines they also leave with a phone. The stand alone CPW stores are too well established to close in the medium term.Currys sell a variety of utilities now and offer clever incentives and bundles, all adding to the bottom line | jsforum
10/11/2017 19:21 | High Street = Betting shops, phone shops, hairdressers, charity shops!! | bookbroker
10/11/2017 19:19 | That’s the problem, got all these CPW stores eating capital when they could be in Curry’s/PC World, etc. Huge overlap and a waste of money, CPW was the weak link when the two merged! | bookbroker
10/11/2017 15:13 | CPW was packed yesterday in our town centre shop, even had a little BlackBerry display lol | rathean
10/11/2017 14:41 | See very few folk in DC. stores these days! | bookbroker
10/11/2017 08:59 | Yes looking grim trading below support, need some buyers to come in or I fear you will be right. | tim 3
10/11/2017 08:57 | Chart still looking shocking, could reach mid-140s by end of the week | rathean
09/11/2017 10:00 | #bookbroker the differential is the 'expert' friendly help to buy offered in store. You and me might look then buy elsewhere, but the huge middle aged and older parts of the population who want reassurance with their purchase are fodder for Dixons for a long time to come. | rathean
09/11/2017 09:13 | True mobiles.co.uk is really cheap much cheaper than carfone! Reminds me of the old Dixons.co.uk which used to be cheaper than the actual stores, like that price model not sure this can continue indefinitely. | tim 3
09/11/2017 09:05 | ...and then they buy online from mobiles.co.uk as it's normally the cheapest...who are part of the group :-) | supercity
09/11/2017 08:30 | Thing with this company is that like other big box retailers, people walk into store, look at the product, feel it, ask questions, and then walk out and look up online to see if they can acquire it cheaper, also it’s likely that media is one of their bigger departments, how many TV’s do you need! | bookbroker
09/11/2017 08:24 | #cwa1 thanks for that, I can go for my first coffee and not cry into it like usual.. | rathean
09/11/2017 08:19 | Rathean, this is the most likely "culprit" from Investec:- DIXONS CARPHONE, BUY,TP185P(FROM HOLD)-NOTE:RISK REWARD SHIFTING TO THE UPSIDE. | cwa1
09/11/2017 08:12 | Just when you feel like throwing the towel in !!!!gla | nortic 007
09/11/2017 08:08 | On the back of the VOD CITY deal perhaps? I see nothing else other than shorters thinking it can go a lot lower... | rathean
09/11/2017 07:53 | Hopefully we might see some improvement in the share price this morning. | cwa1
08/11/2017 17:15 | Years low on today | action
08/11/2017 12:55 | why is DC ultimately losing to online electricals in white goods etc? The data suggests their share has been quite stable in recent years, and in fact AO World is online only and look at that stock, disappointing growth and makes a loss...online only for white electricals doesn't work IMHO, people want to go see the product. IMHO the likes of AO World will eventually go under or combine with bricks and mortar. Anyone here buy a washing machine, or TV without going to the store to look at it first? Best Buy has managed to thrive in the US after being almost written off in 2012, and they did it by price matching AMZN, improving their own online and improving customer service and adding in store Geek squads. So in theory at least there is no reason why DC can't continue to exist with a decent market share despite AMZN etc. Whether this management is the one to take them forward is another question though. | aim11 |
