well PDG is a lead indicator of the health of the high street in my view...

Did you see their shares yesterday on the back of a substantial profit warning

PDG is falling again today.

Seb could be out if peak season is not good but why will he care he has made plenty as shareholders have lost plenty.

The Carfone tie up he orchestrated is proving to be a real drag on the shares now, reports of very slow sales of the I phone 8 and people holding on to handsets longer continue.

The problem is this area has been so profitable for them in the past not just initially but with kickbacks on customers future bills that a drop in this area has a disproportionate1 effect on profits.

All eyes will be focused on this and peak season sales now.

Spoke with some people who work for the company today and they said overall sales were going well with the exception of new phone contracts which were still slow and very little interest in the IPhone 8.

Reports of poor sales of the I phone 8 probably not helping being out sold by the previous model apparently.

Ekuuleus

I think this has been their issue with phones they have been too highly focused on highly profitable contracts but the market has moved on towards sim only, they do appear to have recognised this now,all be it late as they have some very competitive sim only deals particularly on mobiles.co.uk which they own.

last year I wanted to buy an iphone 7 128GB model, cash, no contract. Simple transaction, here is my card, give me the phone!

Dixons would only sell with a contract/didn't have any stock.

Apple store to busy to serve me, I needed to book an appointment (!!!).

I cant remember the store I bought it in, but eventually managed to buy the phone that day.

Thing is, it gives an impression that the store is not doing well, and the figures support that impression. You can sense when a company is failing.

On the other hand, DC. have done a lot to their stores - the staff seem positive even if he inventory let them down.

I'll have to go down and get another feeler out for the staff moral. It's a great leading indicator of a company.
