Hezza, what you continuously overlook is that, even if the 45m somehow come home, a business with no future has zero value.

As for your ridiculous assertion of "the shorting brigade keeping this down", this is a reflection of your complete lack of understanding of how a market works. Shorters, just like long investors, establish their position once (or perhaps through multiple trades) and then wait for the share price to hopefully fall. In order to "keep this down" shorters would have to continuously keep selling, i.e. constantly increasing their short position. That is a ridiculous notion. Just as long investors would not continuusly buy more and more just to "keep it up". The reason the share price is not rising, as you hope, is simple: there are not enough new investors buying to outweigh those that are selling.

By the way, I was forced out of my short position two months ago by my broker due to lack of available borrow. I made a few p on my short, but now I am just watching out of interest. Also, Evil Knievil does not list Cupid amongst his "bearish" positions on his newsletter any more. So you should stop blaming others for your bad investment decisions.

Indeed Andy, but value funds Toscafund, Kestrel and CH Deep Value have been buyers recently, which indicates a level of confidence. All will be revealed no doubt. I'm away from my PC at the moment, but I'm pretty sure that if the upfront payment (£15m?) is added to current assets, less total liabilities, it still equates to the current price. Will update this post with the figures when I return home. :-)

Hezza,

I think some people at least doubt the $45 million will "come home"

Picked up an initial stake at 58p this week. Barrage of sellers still at 57, but MMs not budging. Buyer in the background perhaps? Can only assume it's EK's shorting brigade keeping this down. The current share price is basically saying that the £45 million isn't coming home. I see no reason why not and reckon that the shares will be trading nearer to £1 in coming months.

All IMO/DYOR etc.

We used to meet in person - America's crush on online dating

Tuesday, 22 Oct 2013 | 12:46 AM ETBy: Ansuya Harjani | Writer, CNBC Asia

There has been a dramatic shift in attitudes towards internet dating sites in the U.S., according to new research, as the process of searching for love online quickly loses its stigma.

Almost 60 percent of internet users in the country agree that online dating is a good way to meet a romantic partner, up from 44 percent in 2005, according to a telephone survey of 2,252 adults, age 18 and older, by the Pew Research Center.

When asked whether people using online dating sites come across as "desperate", just 21 percent of respondents believed so, compared with almost 30 percent eight years ago.

One in 10 Americans have used an online dating site such as Match.com, eHarmony, or OK Cupid or a mobile dating app, the study found. Those using the internet in their search for love are most commonly in their mid-20s to mid-40s or college-educated.
Meet the Match.com for jobseekers
Juan Urdiales, co-founder of Job and Talent.com, tells CNBC how the company uses algorithms to match job seekers profiles to jobs that will suit them. "Compared with eight years ago, online daters in 2013 are more likely to actually go out on dates with the people they meet on these sites," the study noted. Over 66 percent of online daters have gone on a date with someone they met through an online dating site or app, up from 43 percent of online daters in 2005.

Beyond dating, almost one quarter of online daters said they had entered into a marriage or long-term relationship with someone they met through a dating site or app, up from 17 percent in 2005.

While opinions towards the process of digital dating are largely positive, 54 percent of online daters said they have run into a situation where an individual has seriously misrepresented themselves in their profile.

What was more concerning is that 28 percent of online daters said they had been contacted by someone through a dating site or app in a way that made them feel harassed or uncomfortable.

But in spite of the hang-ups involved with finding a partner on the internet, online daters told CNBC they continue to view dating websites as a valuable tool.

If anyone has any doubts about the level of falseness in the internet dating market.....

just try this !!

open up an account at amor.com

without paying....

as a man in 40s looking for a woman

and make your profile sound fairly normal (no speed boats, not rich)

and WITHOUT loading up a photo...

and you will receive lots of enquiries from 'people'

------

And then think whether real women reply to adverts from men with no photos....
rather than reply to adverts that do include photos...

(do men reply to profiles of women with no photos......very rarely)

...imo it is just false.....just to get you to pay...to be able to read the messages sent to you....

the industry has a large % of fraud imo...as well as a % of real people

Perhaps this is the solution to Cupids problems. A dating site for ghosts.

This site only accepts membership from the dead. Perhaps a huge untapped market which CUP could exploit. After all the dead outnumber the living. And there may be other avenues to explore.

"Also, we don't accept the undead or living dead - no zombies or vampires!"

Have you noted that, WC?!

Personally, I never short, and don't even have a spread-betting account. I'm only here on a fleeting visit to say hello to my old china, WC!

I don't short mainly because I believe that you can make more by going long. Just consider the maths of it: the maximum downside is always just 100%, but the maximum upside can be virtually unlimited. But also because I prefer to take a positive view of the world, and to participate in success, not failure.

But as regards the honesty of shorters: I think that you are generalising, J777J. Both longs and shorts can be honest, or dishonest.

I sympathise with you though if there has been any dishonest posting by shorters here - I haven't been following this thread, so I can't give a view. There was certainly some quite outrageously dishonest activity in the SHFT shorting.

Now, having said my piece, I will bid you farewell ... and good luck to all Cupid longs!

"HH,
I'd rather not engage with you if I can help it...you twist and distort things and raise arguments to support your own view...i.e. you 'cherry pick' facts and figures that supports your own view. Not sure why you seem to think that I made a profit of £700.00 on a measely 2,000 shares. I very rarely disclose my position, other than the price I enter a trade at. Still £700 is a nice sum if you can get it. ... "

Well WC,

You publicly announced it when you closed your SHFT short:

WyleCoyote 5 Aug'13 - 11:12 - 67 of 199 0 0
"Thought I would close my short for now. It was good while the good was going."

And this I believe was your associated buy:

11:12:45 05-Aug-2013 17.59 2,000 351.80 Ordinary trade

The next day you were boasting about having made a mint:

WyleCoyote 6 Aug'13 - 10:38 - 97 of 199 0 0
"Regardless, the charts on here is so easy to follow. I have made a mint on this.... So I am delighted"

But 2,000 share shorted from the 40s (your entry point) to about 17p only equates to about £700 max., according to my maths!

In conclusion, you took a small punt and got lucky, but certainly didn't try to give that impression.

In addition, you were very friendly with the odious spwh100-simonh88 weren't you, who has just been uncovered as dishonestly posting under multiple identities.

So don't lecture me about honesty, sunshine. I am scrupulously honest, and have a very good investment record.

In fact, my last but one recommendation, REH, earlier this year, subsequently quintupled.
