Coventry Building Society announces that Gary Hoffman has informed the Board of his intention to retire as Chair of the Society in 2022 once a successor has been appointed.

Gary joined the Society as a Non-Executive Director and Chair in April 2018. The Board will now initiate a process for the appointment of a successor led by the Nominations & Governance Committee.

Gary Hoffman, Chair, said:

"The Society has made great progress over the last few years. It is a fantastic organisation, and I feel hugely privileged to have been Chair, but after four years I know the time is right for me to step down and spend more time with my family and focus on my other commitments. I remain committed to this great organisation and all it does for its members and employees. "

Steve Hughes, Chief Executive, said:

"I'd like to thank Gary for everything he has done for the Coventry and for his support since I joined the Society last year. His perspective and counsel have been invaluable as we have led the Society through the challenges of the pandemic."

Jo Kenrick, Senior Independent Director, said:

"On behalf of the Board, I would like to express our enormous gratitude to Gary for his leadership. He has chaired the Society through a period of considerable change and he leaves with our very best wishes."
