So where do you get your footfall info relating to newspaper sales ?
Plus, somebody who sells things telling you they are selling more is not anecdotal.
It's a very small sample size ...

I wouldn't rely too much on anecdotal evidence such as this. Yes individual shops that are still open might see an increase, but newspaper sales overall are down a lot due to lower footfall. I sold CNCT given their high fixed costs, low margins and high debts - could be hit very hard. Still hold RCH though.

Thanks gfae, that is really good to hear. Not many companies are growing at this time.

Same for most parcel companies, not just Tuffnells. Anyway how do know about morale there?

Moving away from the subject of tuffnells.Smith's news are still trading, obviously they will take a huge hit during this crisis, however im sure they will come out the other side in a much better position than many, many other companies in this country.

hmm. I go for a walk everyday which includes a motorway bridge.

It's very quiet. Freight volumes are significantly down.

Is there anything stopping them being B2C as well?

Has anyone heard of contract wins for Tuffnells due to shortage of home delivery vans?

Not sure the colour of the vans and trucks is much of a strategic priority!!!!

Those Tuffnells vans are such a scruffy green colour, they are depressing to look at

No not at all, just trying to be realistic not negative. Connect without Tuffnells would be strong for many years.

Can’t see anyone paying anything for Tuffnells. Hardly any assets left, virtually all fleet needs replacing, service levels poor, no operational plan and staff morale rock bottom

I reckon volumes of newspaper sales have probably taken a dive and will be worse now extra measures have come in to minimise going out. Not sure they'll ever fully recover!

Thanks for your views re Newspapers. My thought process concluded that folk would move to online, but perhaps I will be proved wrong. Time will tell.

It's surprising that the newspapers aren't publishing articles to reassure people it's safe to read a physical copy. Maybe they just haven't thought of it, or they want people to move online.Or it's more risky than I would have thought.
