Saint-Gobain announces the acquisition of Sezal Glass Ltd's

float glass business in India

Saint-Gobain Glass India has just signed a definitive binding agreement concerning the acquisition of Sezal Glass Ltd's float glass business in India. Through this deal, Saint-Gobain Glass India will acquire a new float plant located in the district of Bharuch, in Gujarat, together with its business assets. Brought on stream in February 2010, this float has a daily production capacity of 550 tons of flat glass to supply the architectural market.

This harmoniously completes the industrial presence of Saint-Gobain Glass in India: a large manufacturing complex close to Chennai (two float plants, one magnetron line to produce coated glass, a mirror line, automotive glass processing plants, and a transformation facility for the architectural glass segment), automotive glass processing plants in Pune and a new float under construction near Delhi, operational early 2012.

This latest investment is another illustration of the Saint-Gobain Group strategy which aims to increase its presence in high-growth countries, and offer on these markets a vast range of high quality products, including the most advanced glass solutions in terms of comfort and energy performance.

Located in 64 countries with nearly 190,000 employees, Saint-Gobain, the world leader in the habitat and construction markets, designs, manufactures and distributes building materials, providing innovative solutions to meet growing demand for energy efficiency and for environmental protection. Saint-Gobain's Flat Glass Business produces, processes and markets glass products for three main markets: construction, transport (automotive, aeronautics, rail and industrial conveyors), and solar power. World leader for coated glass, Saint-Gobain Glass covers all the Flat Glass business's primary glass manufacturing facilities and is supported by a powerful worldwide production network comprising floats and coaters.
