13/11/2010 12:32 | From the FT: While this week's trip did not see the signing of as many big deals as the government and British companies had hoped, it did provide some smaller-scale examples of how such visits can deliver new business, writes Alison Smith. Jim McColl, the Scottish engineering entrepreneur who is chairman and majority shareholder of Clyde Blowers, travelled with David Cameron to China to sign a deal worth £2m to provide coal injection technology for three coal-to-methanol state-owned plants in Henan Province. Speaking from Beijing, Mr McColl was clear that the prospect of the prime ministerial visit helped Aim-listed Clyde Process Solutions, which sits within his group, secure the contract. About one-third of its business already comes from China. "It was business we were trying to win, and when I said I was coming with the prime minister it seemed to speed up the process. The benefit of senior politicians being seen to be supportive of your business is important in China. "Last night we were with Wen Jiabao in the Great Hall of the People, and that goes down well with customers here, too." He said the total value of the contract would be three to four times the headline number, and that he hoped there would be opportunities for senior ministers to make the case for Clyde in respect of other contracts. Ministers had been keen to be supportive and to learn what companies wanted them to do. "Politicians can be too full of their own importance, but I was impressed by the ministers' enthusiasm and willingness to help," he said. "I would go again I think we've got a lot of value out of it | cockneyrebel

09/11/2010 11:59 | Clyde Process Solutions plc ("CPS" or the "Group") New contract win as part of UK trade delegation to China Clyde Process Solutions plc (AIM: CPSP), a global provider of pneumatic conveying and air filtration solutions for process industries, is pleased to announce that, in the presence of the UK trade delegation led by the Prime Minister, David Cameron, it will be entering into a contract worth approximately GBP2 million to supply the coal injection technology for three coal-to-methanol plants in Henan Province in China. The contract will be signed on Wednesday 10 November by the client, which is a state-owned energy company, and Jim McColl, Chairman of CPS, at a signing in Beijing which is part of the UK trade delegation. The state-owned energy company has entered into a joint-venture agreement with a US company to construct coal-to-methanol plants in Henan Province, China. The phase one facility is designed to produce "Syngas" which will be used as a feedstock for a 500,000 tonne per year methanol plant. CPS has been selected to supply the coal injection technology which feeds coal into three gasifiers. The project will be engineered by CPS's Doncaster operation with key components supplied by its Beijing subsidiary. Jim McColl, Chairman of Clyde Process Solutions plc, said: "We are thrilled to be a part of the UK delegation and, as a company which already does a significant amount of business in China, to get the opportunity to build further relationships in the Chinese business community as part of this government-sponsored initiative. The presence of the Prime Minister as part of the delegation reiterates how important the rapidly growing Chinese market is to both the UK government and to UK companies." Commenting on this new order win, Alex Stewart, Chief Executive of Clyde Process Solutions plc said: "We are delighted to be working with this new client to provide coal injection technology to their plants in China. It will once again provide an excellent reference for us in China. The Group is focused on further strengthening its order book and we are pleased to be able to announce this significant order, which was secured at healthy levels of contribution and in line with management expectations." | cockneyrebel

03/11/2010 14:48 | Here's the bit from the Indy a fortnight ago - actually found it now rather than a reference to it in Sharecast: From the Indy a fortnight ago: "Clyde Process Solutions Our view: Buy Share price: 55p (+1.5p) With a silly name like Clyde Process Solutions, you would think this company made its living from software or technology, where such titles are commonplace. Not so. Clyde is, in fact, an engineering business. It is also, if one looks beyond the name, an interesting investment story. Yesterday, the AIM-listed Clyde cheered investors with news of a £1.2m contract with a major Chinese steel company. Its subsidiary CPS Asia designed and installed the injection system in one of the world's largest blast furnaces for the customer last year. The new contract will see it providing a coal-injection system. The ability to win repeat business like this is significant at a time when orders are generally picking up. And the shares are not pricey, trading on about eight times forecast earnings for the year to February 2011, while yielding just above 1 per cent. Resilient through the downturn, with quite high levels of debt reduction, we think CPS is worth investing in and could yet yield to a bid (rivals have attracted fancy multiples). Buy" CR | cockneyrebel

02/11/2010 16:08 | Well, couldn't resist any longer. Bought 10k at 64.89p | callumross
02/11/2010 13:07 | looks like its hit a top. support at 60p but more likely to hit 55p support. | mechanical trader
02/11/2010 12:34 | To clarify all the confusion the confirmed date for the publication of the interims is Friday 12th November. Still toying with buying 10k as a tuck away and I note upgraded broker forecast from Astaire Securities last week. They are now going for 7.1p for this year and 8.6p for next. The only thing stopping me buying is annoyance that I could have got in 10p cheaper a month ago! | callumross |
