No we are not panicking in fact laughing as many of us have taken the opportunity that we thought we would not see again to buy more.
We know this stock very well and I feel comfortable that if the dust does not settle today it will tomorrow.
I feel sorry for anybody who held this stock and was frightened out .
If anybody has shorted I think they will realise they made a mistake.

Most of us have researched for years and hardly likely to sell when a stranger shouts at us.

Yes debiegee, seen that, but this momentum will unfortunately see CHL drop further on sentiment. As a poster said above, the stock is not well bid as nobody wants the stock in volume

I'm not sure if you are addressing me - and if so you didn't understand my post.

I didn't say others weren't pulling out - as it happens I don't know and don't care. I said it isn't relevant to CHL's case (which is being heard by ICSID).

I tend to the same view as Masarap here - if what is claimed is correct re other companies that should play in CHL's favour.

Anyway, GL - whatever strategy you are trying to implement.

Far from it Kirk, ROI is currently negotiating major trade agreements with the U.S. and Europe, it wouldn't want to put those at risk by being seen as a rogue state in breach of international law.

masarap, you have it the wrong way round, the indo gov are telling the largest miners on the planet to bog off, so they will not give a fig for CHL
kirk2

Yes, Clifford Chance, thats why ROI will lose what is an extremely strong case against them.

The Indonesian government is attempting to take the mining industry to the cleaners, inasmuch as, all contracts, old and new, are being called in to have various clauses added which will prevent another Churchill.

A new mining law is currently being discussed in the Indonesian courts that will alter all Contracts of works(COW), and insert that all disputes must be brought before an Indonesian court to be resolved, and that international arbitration can no longer be used.

That is the reason for some mining comoanies, large and small, making the decision to leave, SHOULD THE ACTION, BACKED BY 14 MINING COMPANIES, CURRENTLY GOING THROUGH THE COURTS TO PREVENT THIS LAW BEING ENACTED, FAIL.

Half the story is Alarmist, kirk.

clever traders will now buy because Newmont news is no good reason to sell here and many will be grateful to have cheap shares !

no your wrong other miners ARE pulling out of indo, as stated today including 2 of the largest in the WORLD, just think folks should have a balanced view and not risk everything on an obvious unstable country. also noticed a 75k distressed sell today hope it was not another director unwinding, be very careful.

I regard a couple of significant foreign mining companies citing unease about doing mining business in ROI as not overly significant but certainly positive. ROI desperately need foreign investment and, with the likes of Newmont giving a vote of no confidence, the last thing they need is the CHL case hanging around as an annoying additional negative in terms of encouraging mining investment.

I believe this was known last week as sure I saw an article but not written in this fashion.

OUR MINE DOES NOT HAVE TO PRODUCE OR PAY FOR ITSELF !
UNDER THE RULES OF ICSID IF WE WIN THEY WILL HAVE TO PAY AND THEIR ASSETS AROUND THE WORLD WILL BE SEIZED IF THEY DONT PAY VOLANTARILY.

Meanwhile there are other positive mining stories in the Indo press.

KIRK
Thanks for pointing it out though but the exec Director only sold £5.000 worth and he has millions so he is hardly bailing out ?

Other miners may or may not be pulling out of ROI. The ROI government may or may not be in self destruct mode insofar as courting international investment is concerned. Maybe a few trader chimps got scared out on that news - hard to say without knowing who sold this morning and why.

Although I wouldn't rule out a few who cashed in this morning or just want a cheaper entry price before news now de-ramping and posting misleading assertions in the hope of influencing the share price downwards before buying, if you know what I mean.

Not you, obviously ;-)

But in any event it isn't relevant to CHL's case. You wrote "....even if they win the chances of getting money out of these cowboys looks poor...."

You're quite wrong on that. The chances of ROI paying up voluntarily might be poor. I don't know and don't care, because the chances of CHL being able to enforce a judgement against ROI overseas assets in ICSID signatory states (most of which are thankfully not crooked) looks very good indeed. It might take a little longer than a voluntary settlement, but that shouldn't worry CHL shareholders. Certainly no worries from me on seeing our money.

All we need is for ICSID to find in our favour. The rest will take care of itself, with a little help from Clifford Chance....
