Hardly a glorified telephone service WJC...if they were just that then they wouldnt be the biggest service providers of that elk in Europe.True the data is collected through dedicated and and automated telephone lines, but being in a highly regulated industry the information gathered has to be properly analysed and correlated statistically.Errors in voice data have also to be analysed and interpreted.

Also central to their operation is a highly sophisticated software that they have spent 5 years developing. They also employ an army of staticians whose prime function is to interepret the data and develop optimum testing strategies.

The latest in the clinical trial field is adaptive trials which allow trials to be conducted on diffrent dosages than the norm.I understand this procedure is based on Bayesian probablity calculus and CNP have a lead in this technology. They have 2 adaptive trials underway currently and the Company sees this technology being taken up very fast going forward

I feel the barriers to entry here are very high...

Good news this morning re. EDC with Kendle.

Got a good write up in the results page in the Shares Mag today. Divi 3.5 times covered.

Nice! One for the long term.

Cheers

Thanks, read the detail in the results and its there eps 36.7! right in front of me. Nice rise today which will probably continue for while, and a ~5% dividend shortly, very nice! This could go to £2.00 or above fairly shortly depending on any profit taking, but wouldn't make sense to sell until at least the dividend dates have gone

Net asset value is much higher than mentioned above as Criterion hold significant trading properties that are not revalued and held in the books at cost - hence, closer to £2.50 per share before deferred tax. Not bad going really; I am impressed also with how this company has rewarded loyal investors with a significantly increased final dividend. For those that have held on through the difficulties of last year (including me!)it is now looking good.

eps 36.67p as Del says, I could not understand why the price did not move higher yesterday morning. Sometimes you see something in black and white and start to doubt what you have seen when it does not react as you expect it to.

Even after todays rise the total dividend is yielding 7%!!!

Well perhaps a further rise as a result of an MBO looks less likely after today’s statement, however today’s 18% rise as a result of:

 An increase in EPS to 36.7p from 8.8p (+321%)
 An increase in dividend to 10.0p from 7.0p (+43%)
 An increase in net NAV to 220p from 202p (+8.9%)

+ an upbeat statement and continued talk of a possible share buy-back ; all together are giving us the right result; and personally I’m still there for the ride – after all, they still stand at a 39% discount to net NAV and still yield 7.4%.

CNP is one of those “Family Controlled” property companies so maligned in some quarters; how refreshing on this occasion however to see such concern for minority shareholder interest. Frankly, CNP & CLI (CLS Holdings) have lessons for DJAN & TOPS.

Could it be perhaps that corporate governance is somewhat higher in the Scandinavian countries than it is in the UK (and yes, CNP did act very quickly to snuff out their previous MD when an unusual contract emerged in respect of their US-based associate!).

Perhaps the Freshwater (DJAN) and Goodman (TOPS) families will look to put their own houses in order before active minority groups shame them into reducing the absurd NAV discounts - I estimate 53% & 49% respectively.

Not the most active of property stocks, so only of use to the investor.

CNP has at last moved through the £1 level again, with three buys @ 100, 101 & 102. Hardly earth-shattering stuff, but for this stock it perhaps presages a resolution of the legal furore holding it back for so long. If that is indeed the case, I would expect an MBO to follow shortly thereafter.

Looks a safe play for 125p+ over the next few weeks. (current Price 100-105)
