this one on the rise again, chris do you have any realistic guess as to how far then price could move up?

Depends how much punting money is afloat in this one. But if one does not have to sell to raise the money to chase the next "hot tip", it might be worth reflecting on exactly how much benefit the recent noticable fall in fuel prices will have been helping Salvesen's profits. Bearing in mind the problems the company reported on the way up, one can imagine the joy in the company now they are on the way down again!

And a sumptuous yield too!

Sold previously a while back at 170p, but back in at 89p looking for some good upside from here. Robbie Burns will have no impact on the price movement over the next few months. He's irrelevant. Apart from the magnificent buying opportunity that will arise if lots of punters follow Burns over the cliff when he bails.

I love this Robbie Burns guy, he saved my bacon, but I can't understand all the buyers who trapsed alonf after him and just bought into SVC without knowing much about either the company or the sector. SVC has some serious management problems and it doesn't look like Custos wants to come back. I was glad of the chance to bail-out at a break-even price and get into a good candidate in the same sector CKN with, I might add, a sound management team and a p/e of 4.4. Watch out, SVC already has rusting hull, one more hole and it'll be a watery grave.

Chicken

Yes, been a holder of SVC since 19 Oct before current speculation began.

Normal daily volumes are 2M or less so something is afoot.

I note also that Cazenove SVC's broker has a 10p spread compared to all the others at 5p, concluding that Cazenove is amongst the buyers @ 87p and not selling @ 97p.

I do not think Hays are interested as they walked away after the last attempt at a takeover.

The rest would be speculation - so do not know.

Could be Hays as they have lost a number of good contracts this year on their distribution arm.

Couple of bits in the papers:
The Times comments of revived bid speculation (i havent seen this article)
and a fairly chunky write up in the Mail which i have read they talk of MBO with Custos are selling their stake and that Edward Roderick CEO has had disscussions with a u.s. private equity specialist about taking the firm private as he and the board are miffed to say the least with the paltry valuation of the company.
They go on to say that if Cazenove are hoovering the shares up then it might make it easier to take the firm private.
Plus it goes on some more suggest its worth buying for full details - too long to type out.

Chicken, Robbie Burns is an experienced trader and has a feel for the markets. I have profited from some of his picks in the past but have not looked at his page for quite a few months. It must be comforting to know that you have an audience that will pile into anything that you "BUY". Although his page carries all the usual disclaimers one cant help but feel that there is a little "exploitation" going on but hey good luck to you if you are banking regular profits as a result.

just read txt again he updated saying he been watching trading building in bombed out svc and bgt at 78 or 79p he got a good eye for shares imo. And yes i do buy most of them - not all. wots your opinion of svc? vol high today.

Robbie Burns seems to have following that get excited at anything that he "buys". Remember he is not a tipster but a punter that keeps a diary of his sharedealing. I have not looked at his page for a while but believe that he invests a "mythical" £5000 in each stock for the purpose of the page. He may in real life actually invest more or less than the £5000. The page is quite useful for short-term trading ideas but remember that although Robbie Burns has a captive audience he is always ahead of the game. For what its worth SVC was mentioned in the press as likely to rise as a stock overhang had cleared. Good luck to all but remember to DYOR!

Do you buy all his tips immediately after publication on text?
Note this is up 6% already.
By the time you buy it's too late I've found.
What's your experience?
