CLS just about B/E in the first half, [and would have done if the income from the cash pile was the same as last year.]

Bought in on the 16th March, @ 8.5p [two weeks ago] after loads of research. Great to see the company buying back its own shares today, that will lift EPS for all shareholders.

i have no holding in this company

Multi-media focused Cheerful Scout (CLS) saw its shares jump by 0.75p to 4.5p after the group posted its final results for the year to 30 June 2008. The company's revenues slumped to 1.57 million pounds from 2.09 million pounds, weighed by writedowns of 346,076 pounds in relation to its nVision strategy product. As such, the Cheerful's profits before tax were not so cheerful and swung from 115,536 pounds to losses of 565,698 pounds, which dragged the company's diluted earnings per share from 1.14p to losses of 5.41p. At the end of its financial year, the group recorded cash reserves of 984,947 pounds, down from 1.04 million a year prior. During the period, the business said that it underwent a phase of restructuring, noting that it has merged its Corporate Events division into On Screen Communications. "The combination of our technical and creative ability and our innovative and passionate team will continue to push both our On-Screen Communications and DVD businesses forward," commented Stuart Appleton, Chairman. Finally, what is particularly interesting is that the company also commented that it is looking to undertake a share buy-back programme. Even after the jump the company is capitalised at less than 500,000 pounds - a big discount to net cash.

Final results out this morning.

Loss before write off of development costs and taxation of £219,622 (2007: £115,536 profit)

But strong balance sheet.

Cash = 1p per share
Net working capital = 1.1p per share
NTAV = 1.7p per share

So currently priced at an approx 55% discount to cash.

Unfortunately Turnover fallen over 40% and increases Losses.

Do you believe that the Cash Reserves will remain as healthy within a few months ?

It might be but Id rather wait and see the next results. The discount to cash could evaporate very quickly if current trading takes another downturn.

On the same theme FPS may be worth a look. Market cap £0.5M. Cash around 2M at last results. Very illiquid and big spread. Some dodgy goings on in China have seen the share price collapse. As I say its speculative.
