PERSONALLY I FEEL THEY ARE A MYTH, THE SAME NUMBER OF VOTING SHARES FOR FIVE PLUS YEARS, DESPITE BUYBACKS . THEY ARE JUST USED TO DISTRIBUTE FREE SHARES OR BONUSES TO STAFF AND DIRECTORS AT NO BENEFIT TO SHAREHOLDERS, OTHER THAN FURTHER DILUTION BEING AVOIDED, IT WOULD BE FAIRER TO RAISE THE DIVIDEND FOR ALL. AND THE SHARE PRICE HAS BEEN THE SAME OVERALL FOR THREE OR FOUR YEARS. THE DIVIDEND IS THE ONLY GROWTH, perhaps its time for a change and a new vision.

Some news would be nice indeed, but then again, if there's nothing special to report then what's the point. The USD/GBP is a relevant metric for CCT and one that you can monitor. Unfortunately after a period of great strength it has been very weak since.I'm still expecting a return to (substantial) growth end of 2018, early 2019, which should make the shares re-rate. I'm OK with a relatively flat price now, the stock just needs some good newsflow to start a bullish rally.

NONPLUSSED?, SEEMS SOMEONE OR THE COMPANY? HAS AN APPETITE FOR THE SHARES, NOW VERY CLOSELY HELD.
The company thought before toy r us that the year 2019 was to be the best year yet, and Pokemon and the rest may be performing, hence people in the know have removed any surplus.
but the strength in the shares might be preparation for something in the change of ownership, control or management of the business,
just no idea.
guess we wait for news or September update.
Im looking for a higher price than this after 3 years stagnation.
would be nice to have news shared.

There is a steady market in the shares at present with few sellers and some demand lead by confidence in the company's performance in this difficult market.

Who would buy them out entertainment one could do with a strong in house development team bringing earnings in house to a higher pe, or they could be regarded as cheap by hungry usa companies seeking earnings in pounds.
in a period of poor performance, certainly on the first, 525-545 looks feasible short term and on the second 8 pounds.

@mcartdonI dont know the quantification, but I do know that when I spoke to management 5 months ago they said GBP/USD was their most important external variable, so undoubtedly the relative strength of the GBP has been good for them (I spoke to them when GBP/USD was at 1.31 or something).

How much effect will the steady decline in the dollar have this year.
back just about to Brexit day levels from 1.20.
buying in dollars and selling in pounds must have margin gains especially as they tightened their terms as it gained.
the next 12 months outlook is key and they were looking forward to a good year before tyrus.

I think it was already priced in during the big fall Fred. I'll be interested to hear more about their own B2C efforts, they have enough products now to make a visit worthwhile and the toys seem decent value.

Anyone have any opinion on whether buybacks have finished or not?

Interesting looking at results of Tandem (TND) this morning, who also trade with TRUs: they pulled all their trading when the US Co collapsed, so no debtor exposure, though they admit turnover will be affected. The sales will go somewhere, but opening up new distribution is not as easy or quick as it might sound. TND has placed a bet on opening a B2C channel.

I'm astonished that the Toys R Us collapse doesn't seem to have even caused a ripple here - anyone know why?

fido, the time when this information would have been most useful would have been just after you sold out and before N4's meteoric rise. Thanks very much however for your kind hindsight. I'm almost back at breakeven now but looking at N4 to see if its spike still has legs.

Orange1, you are wrong on a number of accounts but there you go.
My post was prompted after looking at CCT`s share graph doing very little since I left. My intention was to show that there was an alternative to just treading water.

I wish you and everyone else here the very best of luck.

Maybe an idea then to quit posting on this board and concentrate your efforts on the N4 board. You are an incredibly gifted and able investor with enormous intelligence and foresight. Why devote any attention to the "losers" on this board?

Unless of course, you are so unsure of yourself and your own worth that you feel that you have to prop up you new investment with a bit of gratuitous ramping.

I last described CCT as being a share dead in the water and looking at the chart that is a fair assessment. That situation is likely to continue with a risk of bad news sending it sharply lower.

I do wish they'd issue RNSes at 7am though, even if it's just for an award. Makes them look even less professional!

Good news about the 2 awards. It looks like more buy backs today totalling 50,000++ shares, hopefully a positive view of the current market price by the BOD. Looking forward to receiving the 10p dividend on Friday.

Two Toy of the Year Awards for Character

London: Wednesday 24 January 2018: The Character Group plc (AIM: CCT) is delighted to announce that its principal trading subsidiary, Character Options Limited ("Character Options"), is celebrating not one, but two, successes at the annual Toy Industry Awards held last night (Tuesday 23 January 2018) at The London Toy Fair.

Each year the Toy Retailers Association comes together to announce which toys were most successful in the previous 12 months, with several awards being granted within their own categories. Character Options was announced the winner of two: Best Electronic Toy for the Laser X Dual Pack, manufactured by NSI International Inc., and Best Action Toy for The Original Stretch Armstrong manufactured under licence from Hasbro. Each of these toys were also awarded the status of Dream Toys in November 2017.

Jerry Healy, Group Marketing Director, said;

"The Toy Industry Awards night is a very important occasion as it gives credit to the 'best in class' toys of the previous year. Everyone at Character is therefore delighted to once again be awarded two of these important accolades."

Jon Diver, Joint MD at Character, added;

"The success also signifies the prospects for the year ahead of these two brands. Laser X was successful from the moment it launched last July and, this year we will be extending the brand with two further toy lines, the Laser X Battling Tower and the Laser X Long Range Blaster. Stretch Armstrong has now developed into a full product range of characters, including iconic figures from the past, Vac Man and the Stretch Monster and is one of Characters' fastest growing brands."

Kiran Shah, Joint MD at Character, also commented:

"The London Toy Fair this week is proving to be another great expo for us -we are currently exhibiting our full range of 2018 products and the feedback we are receiving from customers and trade visitors to the London Toy Fair is very encouraging. We are confident that the performance of our core ranges and these new introductions will result in further growth in demand for our products, in the calendar year ahead."
