02/7/2019 07:03 | Sentiment poor. Uncertainty over management impacts. Press in Weekend FT about Woodford association didn't help market yesterday First four months were weak according to AGM statement in May but accompanied by a very positive outlook:- "Currently, we are working on several transactions and our potential pipeline gives us optimism for the rest of the year" However recent flow of transactions seems pretty buoyant. Pent-up M&A demand growing. Economy very strong. Employment at record levels. Lots of big-ticket M&A such as Merlin which is a positive sectoral sign. The massive ongoing purchases by the Cenkos Employee Benefit Trust of Cenkos shares continues with gusto with latest purchase just a week ago on 25/6. This is a very positive sign. Cenkos has always been a stalwart payer of dividends. Historic dividend yield now a whopping 10%. Is this a Warren Buffet "when others are fearful" moment? ALL IMO. DYOR. QP | quepassa
01/7/2019 18:02 | The Woodford link is old news. They have had that headwind to deal with for a couple of years. Not good for sentiment, but BCA Marketplace wasn’t a disastrous mega float. Let’s face it Cenkos, like may other advisors, have floated things that haven’t worked out. More worrying is the lack of news on the CEO and the weak IPO market. | topvest

01/7/2019 13:04 | FT published an article last Friday (28/6) on the well-publicised links between Neil Woodford & Cenkos... The longtime links between Neil Woodford and a City broking minnow - No real new info in there but some interesting titbits... "Half of Cenkos’s top-20 equity fundraisings by value since the start of 2014 — when Mr Woodford left Invesco and struck out on his own — were in stocks where Woodford Investment Management disclosed an interest, according to Bloomberg data." "It was for a while almost a given that any deal from Cenkos, whether it fitted with Woodford’s fund or not, would come into consideration," said one investment adviser. In the view of a rival broker: "[Woodford] consistently took issues from [Cenkos] that he wouldn’t take from other people." Also goes into the background of the Woodford-Cenkos relationship which seems to have centred around Paul Hodges at Cenkos. | speedsgh

26/6/2019 14:08 | From recent FT article: "Mr Woodford, who is fighting to save his fund management operation after being forced to gate his biggest vehicle, invested in a string of companies brought to market by Cenkos, including Eddie Stobart Logistics, the AA and Verseon." 19/6/2019 15:19 | Activist turns the screw on broker Cenkos over leadership - Some snippets from the FT article: “The board is in our view totally indecisive,” Richard Bernstein, head of Crystal Amber, told the Financial Times. “Having engaged with management, regrettably at present, there is no one within the business capable of delivering for shareholders. There is a wealth of talent outside of Cenkos that it must now access.”... The call for Cenkos to ditch its plan to bring back co-founder Jim Durkin and bolster its leadership team comes as it faces rising scrutiny of its links to Mr Woodford’s troubled operation, with which it has long had a close relationship. Mr Woodford, who is fighting to save his fund management operation after being forced to gate his biggest vehicle, invested in a string of companies brought to market by Cenkos, including Eddie Stobart Logistics, the AA and Verseon. Cenkos announced in November the plan to re-hire Mr Durkin, chief executive of the broker between 2011 and 2017, after it reported a 90 per cent drop in profits under the stewardship of his successor Anthony Hotson. But Mr Durkin has yet to return to the role seven months later. He is still awaiting regulatory approval from the Financial Conduct Authority, a process that typically takes just three months. A broker at a rival firm described the delay as “unheard of”... A spokesman for Cenkos said: “We communicate regularly with Crystal Amber as we do with all shareholders. Its views are well known to Cenkos. The company acts in the interests of all shareholders.” | speedsgh
