20/2/2012 10:08 | Drpped by on today;'s fall - Conclusion - Going nowhere - Very low yield for what it is. Possible pensin problems - Terrible spread and (imo) a potential share overhang from GAM and EPS Enhancing Earnings Ltd. Could be interesting as NTAV over £7 per share but no indication as to how management will be able to unlock. Any thoughts ?@? | pugugly
26/11/2009 14:55 | Good Results but no one seems to want their 'Caffyns' today. Only up a few % | aishah
24/11/2009 15:45 | only fly - mighty short of cash | undervaluedassets
11/9/2009 16:16 | Caffyns has been left behind in the scramble for LOOK, PDG and INCH. Another director buy reported today. They seem confident. I'd guess that the bullish trading reported in the agm interim management statement ( has continued. A reminder from that statement ... "In July, our new car sales are over 40% up on last year. We have new car orders in hand for delivery in the new registration month of September which are double the level at this time last year. We continue to make good progress selling used cars and unit sales are up 17% on a like for like basis in the quarter to June and gross profit margins are significantly improved. The first half year ends on 30 September. The interims should be good. | ed 123
25/8/2009 13:21 | Looking good recently. Director buy; illiquid but managed to get some few days ago. Well below NAV. Investor agitating too. Maybe some news on the way? | aishah
11/8/2009 20:26 | CFYN - Here's a company valued at half its real assets that's making a profit and looks good for a long-term recovery. | aishah
10/8/2009 07:10 | Thanks, westcountryboy. :-) If you've not already done so, take a look at the 10 year chart (sorry, don't know how to paste it). Unlike other motor retailers, there's been no low price rights issue here, so a climb all the way back looks attainable. A good one to hold in a SIPP or ISA, don't try to trade it. All imho, dyor, etc. | ed 123
09/8/2009 15:26 | I wanted some on Thursday when bid seemed to be 360p. Had to pay 370p for 500 and no more were available at that price all day. Was quoted 400p and 410p for 1000 from two MMs. | westcountryboy
07/8/2009 11:47 | 500 shares bought today and the mms moved the price up 15p. Good move on tiny volume. Could mms be short of stock? | ed 123
06/8/2009 12:42 | Thanks, GingerPlant. :-) Only one bit I'd disagree with, "high of 1,150p last July". The high of 1150p was in July 2007. Other than that, it reads well to me. SP continues to tread water, while Inchcape, Lookers and Pendragon climb. Ironic, since the asset backing here makes Caffyns a safer bet (imho). Maybe the market will wake up nearer to the interims (November). The interims should be good, due to a combination of the good operational performance, cost savings, and improved market. Apropos the latter, the SMMT today announced the first increase in car sales for 15 months. | ed 123
30/7/2009 11:15 | AGM statement has been released. In July, our new car sales are over 40% up on last year. We have new car orders in hand for delivery in the new registration month of September which are double the level at this time last year. We continue to make good progress selling used cars and unit sales are up 17% on a like for like basis in the quarter to June and gross profit margins are significantly improved. The cost reduction programme which was a crucial element of our overall strategy has continued and costs in the quarter to June are GBP0.7m lower than in the previous year and we are on track to deliver an annual saving in excess of GBP2.5m. Brilliant statement. Market is unmoved. I've picked up a few more. Besides the excellent current trading performance, Caffyns has very strong asset backing. The finals in May 2009 recorded £7.30 per share of net tangible assets, as against a share price of £3.60 today. Shareholder, Newfortress Holdings / London Trust has been agitating. There are only about 2.8 million shares, making the market cap. around £10 million. So, very small for a fully listed company and probably the reason it gets little attention. However, that asset backing, combined with trading performance makes it a very good investment, imho. dyor. | ed 123
19/5/2009 08:35 | I'm a holder here. They are reducing costs and paying down borrowings. Not sure if this will be enough for them to maintain the dividend. If held, that would give a 6% annual dividend at today's share price (400p). They're sound enough (eg. asset base) to hold, imho. That would be a big contrast with elsewhere. It depends if they want to play things cautiously or not. We'll find out on 29 May. | ed 123
19/5/2009 08:15 | Where is everybody? This share has almost doubled in the last few weeks, and nobody cares. | dcomd99
27/3/2009 20:08 | See, it helps to talk. Seems to have helped this share anyway. Perhaps somebody has noticed the tiny price to net tangible assets (most of which were last valued in 1995) | dcomd99
12/1/2009 07:43 | Anybody here? | dcomd99
08/2/2006 15:37 | So who is Faisal Al-Yousef??? | fryern
23/11/2005 11:01 | Interims to be released on Friday. The costs of the Rover issue are already in the accounts and there should be further progress reported regarding the affected garages. Trading performance should improve as these changes bed down. Loads of tangible assets. I'd buy the Company if I had the resources. Value will come out in its share price one day. | ed 123
08/11/2005 10:12 | Interims come out on 25th November. It still amazes me how cheap (tangible asset valuation or p/e valuation) these are. I've added to my holding recently. It wouldn't surprise me if a bid came along for the whole Company. | ed 123
14/9/2005 21:42 | Yep! Awake and strolling downhill! Nil shares traded today, share price down 5 p !!!!! Oh well, such is the lot of the value investor. | ed 123
14/9/2005 20:20 | Is this share waking up now? | bigchrisrogers
10/8/2005 07:26 | At last a bit of movement. I've always thought this listed minnow would receive an offer - net tangible assets exceed market capitalistion by a good distance. Where are all the value investors? | ed 123 |
