Blimey, just stepped in after 4 years to look at how my holdings in CAD are doing - it's like a time warp, nothing has changed.

The share price is pretty much the same. The directors continue to provide statutory information to shareholders, with the odd exception of the annual state of union operational update (cf yesterday). Wells are always being planned, and never happen. The market cap remains steadfastly lower than cash and equivalents.

The shocker in the last 4 years was the farm in to Italy, but the two prospects are small, and Italy is probably the only country where things happen slower than Ukraine.

I'll set the timer for 2022, sigh.

In order to increase production by promoting the drilling of new wells, Ukraine's parliament has reduced rental rates for subsoil use for natural gas from new wells drilled after 01-01-2018:
for deep wells greater than 5,000m the rate changes from 14 to 6 percent
for shallow wells less than 5,000m the rate changes from 29 to 12 percent


This is stated in the draft law No.6776-d on changes in the Tax Code, approved by the parliament on December 7.

The incentive rent does not apply to oil and gas condensate, or to gas wells which are produced under joint activity agreements.

The new version of the Tax Code contains a proviso that within 5 years, until 2023, the rates for new wells will not increase.

Also, the parliament with a deferral for 1 year, from January 1, 2019, will reduced rates for gas condensate:
for deep wells greater than 5,000m the rate changes from 21 to 14 percent
for shallow wells less than 5,000m the rate changes from 45 to 29 percent

, thereby levelling them with oil and gas.

In addition, the Tax Code separately specifies rent for production sharing agreements at the level of 2% for oil and 1.25% for gas.

US to lift sanctions on Sudan.

".........A US state department representative said on Friday that the move, which will take effect October 12, was prompted by the “government of Sudan’s positive actions to maintain a cessation of hostilities in conflict areas in Sudan, improve humanitarian access throughout Sudan and maintain cooperation with the United States on addressing regional conflicts and the threat of terrorism......”

“......It’s a good achievement,” said Maowia Khalid, Sudan’s ambassador to the US. “It came through after a long tussle — we tried all different means. Lifting the sanctions is permanent but [US officials] are requesting that Sudan should sustain this longstanding commitment and we are looking forward to more cooperation and combating terrorism.....”

The lifting of sanctions is a necessary prerequisite before considering investing in Sudan.

I see that

Saffron Energy (LON: SRON) the AIM quoted European natural gas company, is pleased to confirm that the framework agreement "Intesa" between the Italian State and the Emilia Romagna region for the Company's Sant' Alberto gas field has been granted.

So maybe Cad's Italian applications are also getting a bit closer.
