20/6/2014 12:18 | As things stand NGF wont get a seat on the board, but as they clearly are a company that wants to be involved in our goldfield it is imo likely that BGL and NGF co-operate. I still maintain NGF want a much higher stake in BGL than they are likely to get but it's good investors haven't caved in to the fisrt shoddy offer. NGF are going to be sniffing around for months to come imo and I hope they push the share price higher and get to a point where they do get BoD reppresentation, 35% perhaps, but short of having a disruptive influence. BGL's journey is getting interesting :) | temujiin
20/6/2014 12:14 | Just keep in mind that if you are a shareholder in this company, you own a fabulous asset. Many will try to obtain access to this asset for their own gain,be it by hook or by crook. The project is coming together and a little patience is required. Others are impatient to obtain your stake in this. My advice is hold on whatever people say, until the milestones are passed for DFS and suitable financing is in place. You may then reap the rewards that this truly fabulous asset has to offer. | midas7777
20/6/2014 12:14 | Richie So, in the short-term (or however long "way down the road" takes) they look to be acting positively (therefore it looks good & the share price appreciates)...but sometime later, they turn negative. So, from today's standpoint, the short-term is up... And the question is, how long (before) in case they turn negative... | rich pickings
20/6/2014 11:59 | Rich pickings Can you explain ..."attempt to turn it into a prepack"... Norton may be v positive if it gets a seat or 2 on the board (I'm obviously thinking way down the road here) However, what some people do with small companies is run it down.. One way of doing this is to press on it a large loan with all sorts of strings attached and then pocket the company at a snip. I am obviously not accusing Norton of intending to work this way but I was articulating the thoughts that some people may have about what will transpire. | richie32
20/6/2014 11:31 | BGL giving us poor advice by telling us to reject bid so say Norton... Well they would say that and are hardly unbiased. BDO were asked for an unbiased opinion and they didn't agree with NGF's valuation. Will listen to conf call later but strong support from the largest SH can be a very good thing for BGL if they can work together, and I'm sure they will. Both realise the they are both doing what they regard as best for their companies. Once this is over what is best for both companies will be the same thing, to progress Bullabulling :) | temujiin
20/6/2014 11:28 | Richie Can you explain ..."attempt to turn it into a prepack"... | rich pickings
20/6/2014 11:23 | Norton could be a constructive partner with the board or some might say it could be very much the opposite and attempt to turn it into a prepack and snap it up at 2p per share. | richie32
20/6/2014 10:37 | I didn't listen in but reading the comments here it sounds as though Norton are realizing they won't get anywhere near control. Probably they are happy to play the waiting game - over medium term, they will try again, especially if POG rises, & as the Parent Company needs to replenish production/reserves. SO i agree with Carl79: "So in a nut shell, why sell your shares. Let them keep their 20%, let them influence, let them facilitate finance and let me go along for the ride!!" | rich pickings
20/6/2014 10:17 | Conference call generally a waste of time imo. But my take away was that they just want a piece of the pie - albeit large - and are not necessarily after 100% ownership...signific So in a nut shell, why sell your shares. Let them keep their 20%, let them influence, let them facilitate finance and let me go along for the ride!! | carl79
20/6/2014 10:08 | BGL giving us poor advice by telling us to reject bid so say Norton............ does that mean bad feelings/unable to cooperate in the future? not good | odvod

20/6/2014 09:50 | Rp- fair comment. However, things are what they are and whilst we are all under water and refuse to countenance a low bid, the alternative could be more unpalatable if they fail to raise sufficient funds. I hope that a maiden reserve will help encourage funding but it is no guarantee. Re the price of gold, I personally think longer term Gold could go much higher under certain circumstances but I do not see it as an inflation hedge at these levels. As such, there are equally strong arguments for it to drop as to rise. This is why management need to get funding sorted and to give investors some guidance as to how they will raise the $400mn. So far , all they are doing is treading water with the hope Gold will rise. That becomes a bet rather than an investment. | grum3still
20/6/2014 09:21 | SNRP Beaufort Securities Strategic Natural Resources (LON:SNRP)we can expect a considerable re-rating. Speculative Buy [...] Further to the earlier announcements the board of Strategic Natural Resources (SNRP), which indirectly owns 74% of Elitheni Coal (Pty) Limited, announces that the winding up petition filed with the Companies Court in London by London Commodity Brokers ("LCB") has today been dismissed, with the consent of LCB and SNR, following SNR's settlement of the agreed amounts due from SNR to LCB, details of which were announced on 13 May 2014 and 6 June 2014. Our view: Following our note date 13th May 2014, it is pleasing see LCB and SNRP having settled the agreed amounts, leading to the current dismissal of the winding up petition. SNRP has a considerable advantage in that it has transport facilities to the underutilised port and has demonstrated success by its first export in 2013. SNR has a further advantage of strong government backing for its project. Coal is a key resource where most of South Africa's power stations are coal fired. Without doubt the Coal asset has value far in excess of the current market cap and we can expect a considerable re-rating. Speculative Buy | theprior
20/6/2014 09:19 | For the last five years or so,the NGF share price has moved around within a relatively small range for a gold miner and that includes when gold had a reasonable run a couple of years ago. Even if gold increases a few hundred dollars, I think it'll be more of the same with NGF, so for those many nursing losses, you're highly unlikely to get your money back with them. That can't be said for BGL, where with a fair wind you'll get multiples of whatever you might get with NGF. | corrientes
20/6/2014 09:08 | do I see a cup and a handle? | odvod
20/6/2014 09:00 | Well, we've had some good news. The rise in POG means that BGL has just become a little more expensive and if it continues that will be reflected in the share price despite the imminent placing. | richie32
20/6/2014 08:57 | Norton Gold Fields is hosting a conference call for shareholders and analysts today, 20 June at 10.00am GMT (17.00 WST). 20/6/2014 07:58 | IMO, most people cannot stomach being ripped off, & Norton's bid has had that sort of taste to it. As a result they have totally misjudged the situation. The more people hold out now, the higher the chances the price has to go higher. | rich pickings
20/6/2014 07:55 | 'Need some good good news and company news.' Drill assay result due by end of month. I'm sure Brett will use that to rally the troops prior to the NGF deadline. Maybe Tuesday/Wed. | temujiin
20/6/2014 07:47 | 18.73%, no where near good enough to reach 30%. NGF have added 12% since the start over two month ago and need over 11% in 6.5 trading days. It's looks definitely Dooomed, but NGF will be our largest SH with approx 20% and one would think they will be professional and business like, take this defeat on the chin and either come back with a decent offer or work with BGL to see this massive progect through to a successful conclusion. IMO anything less than 30% means NGF wont be comfortable about preventing another bidder at somepoint taking over BGL with a substantial offer. At 20% they know BGL are still an easy target for someone less tight fisted. I think they will continue buying after the offer to at least 35% to discourage others and secure BGL from future preditors. | temujiin |
