17/5/2017 15:07 | I find it very, very strange that it takes until the figures are announced before they realise that something needs to be done about Global Services. Why the hell does it take until then to work out that division is 4,000 people overstaffed? Just what have these people been doing for the past few months/years and why on earth wasn’t something done about it sooner? Surely a few managers must have noticed and flagged these problems up the management hierarchy? If only the company became a bit more proactive, and address problems when they occurred, rather than waiting until the poo really has hit the fan. | eaaxs06
17/5/2017 14:52 | Thx eaaxs - I missed that announcement. Good appointment imho. | kazoom
17/5/2017 14:31 | eaaxs06 It all happened on Gavin Paterson watch. The buck stops there. | montyhedge
17/5/2017 14:16 | Yes, pacemaker/monty, I think it is time for a change. Although Gavin wasn’t directly responsible with the fiasco of the past 6 months, he is the figurehead of the company, so the buck stops with him. I have to disagree with monty, about the way Gavin appeared on the Bloomberg interview, when talking about the figures. I didn’t think he came across that well and certainly didn’t inspire confidence in that things could be improved quickly. In the past it was always Tony Chanmugam who handled all the results interviews and coped excellently with any question, answering in a clear, concise manner that implied the company were on track, with a united business plan. It’s a great shame he left the company last year. | eaaxs06
17/5/2017 14:06 | I want the ITV guy to takeover who as just left, Adam Crozier. Shareprice went up 200% when he took over ITV. | montyhedge
17/5/2017 14:03 | Is it time for Gavin to fall on he's sword? | montyhedge
17/5/2017 12:55 | Did anyone find out what Citygroups target price for BT is? | excell1
17/5/2017 12:50 | Still see one or two pleasant surprises here.Large joint venture, selling off of Italian sub and a large reduction in pension deficit with the proceeds. | excell1
17/5/2017 11:23 | kazoom, I thought Alvarez was being released and this Bas Burger guy was taking over GS. | eaaxs06
17/5/2017 11:20 | New chairman could well mean new CEO! I'm old enough to remember BT's ambitions years ago of being a world leader and that well and truly failed. Maybe it's time at last to get rid of GS and concentrate on where the money really is? | pacemaker1000
17/5/2017 11:02 | I would have thought there must be a bigger question mark over the future of Luis Alvarez. Presided over the Italian scandal and the need to restructure Global Services. | kazoom
17/5/2017 10:40 | Pacemaker - Jan du Plessis appointed new chairman of BT joins board in June takes over chair in November. Paterson has only been CEO for < 4 years give him a bit longer under the new Chair. | ianood
17/5/2017 10:19 | Time for Gavin to go? Well he had his chance last week and looks like he had nothing up his sleeve to ignite the share price The city needs new blood to regain confidence in BT I'm afraid so it's time for a change at the top! | pacemaker1000
16/5/2017 21:12 | I was thinking 2 years grim but i'll take Dec 18 :-) | chiefbrody

16/5/2017 17:47 | Blimey monty you certainly no how to upset people | veryniceperson
16/5/2017 17:46 | I expect the deficit to be circa £13bn If as said there are 300000 members I'd be surprised if more than 10-15% are still in employment and due to claim the full amount. The majority will be a long way into their retirement and dare I say due to drop off the list soon. Members tend to have 40ish years in man and boy, which at today's s money works out at about £300000+ average pot I'd say. Don't know what the current total pot is. Huge numbers, but the way the deficit figures are calculated err very much on the side of caution after the Maxwell theft. I had thought this was going to change to be more realistic. Given the demographic of the members the deficit is not going to permanently rise. | pacemaker1000
16/5/2017 16:11 | Nailed on 500p.In time. | chiefbrody
16/5/2017 16:04 | Nailed on 335p. | montyhedge
