VOD headlines ok but 44 billion debt is just eye watering, making even BT's debt look small

1224saj: There were NO posts fearing we would drop on poor Vodafone results. There was only me posting (AFTER BUSINESS HOURS) that we might rise or fall on vodafone results depending on what the market thought of them.

All those posts yesterday fearing we would drop on poor Vodafone results. well here we have the proof, if ever we needed it. BT is being puppeteers for the benefit of very wealthy stake holders. The BS coming out of " sources close to the situation"is quite frankly, offensive

ACTION: It depends on what the VOD results say. There is obviously "potential" for some crossover of good and bad news between both companies - but who knows if that crossover will be a reality.

I'm hoping for better than the market expects for VOD results - but alas I have no idea what the market is expecting.

It never prevents a UK based group/fund to launch a counter bid. There is sometimes a difference in time horizon - the quick return versus the longer term benefit.

Nige : Your post 597 ..absolutely agree. The situation so reminds me of my investment in Pilkington back in the early 90s. An excellent UK company SO evidently undervalued trading consistently as a 'penny stock' ( when it clearly wasn't ) with a steady dividend flow. Hard learned investment strategy has convinced me to stick with such a company. In the case of Pilkington, the market manipulators contrived for it to fall into foreign hands at 164p a share.

Always the Sources??...so secretive but the journo knows who they are...

The three sources, who declined to be named due to the sensitivity of the matter, said any stake-building plan was likely to involve Deutsche Telekom.

In addition, at the beginning of October, BT’s pension scheme published its annual report. It suggested that the overall scheme deficit had fallen to £4.6bn in June, an improvement of roughly £3.4bn.
