I am sorry but my last spread bet only went from 212 up to 225...sold way too soon as I am not a retrospective no1 trader. But all my real life shares happily sit in my SIPPs and ISAs earning dividends for the long term - no cash to buy nor at recent bargain levels.

Well in that case he must have shorted at 232 (but only if the price goes down)!

If shorted at 240p you would have to cough up dividend so best price was around 232p after ex div. day.

Did Montyplank ever actually claim to have taken out a short? And if so at what level?I know he told us BT was the best short in the footsie when it was about to shoot up a few weeks ago...Or is simply waiting for a big fall to his "buy target" of 192 before claiming that he shorted at 240?

In my view 215 may get retested again not because of BT per se but market sentiment , in particular if the Chinese US trade talks fail , all shares will follow .

I see Vodafone as a peer in the telecoms sector. If the sector is down (or up), it's good to compare individual companies within the sector.

So why do you keep highlighting VOD?

ham
The QE trick can only work when conditions are suitable.
A deflationary World situation for example.

When the labour government called in the IMF in past times, it was because inflation was high and foreign holders of HMG bonds were dumping them. Interest rates soared, out of control, not stoppable.
Zimbabwe type hyper inflation would be caused by printing money.
Printing money destroys currencies, 1930's Germany, Zimbabwe, Argentina, Russia.
Interests at crippling levels to protect the currency.

Toon. Nope it doesnt matter to my long term holding, and yep am happy that BT held up reasonably compared even to Voda, let alone the rest of the market.
Am just airing my pessimism about the levels of debt everywhere in the world I guess.

Does it really matter Ham? I thought you were a long term investor/thinker. There are many stocks out there doing far worse than VOD or BT.
